Got a scary voicemail from them 4 times just today.

Received a rather alarming message about possible legal proceedings due to some outstanding dues with HMRC. I chose not to return the call, fully aware that it’s nothing more than a scam.

Today, my mum got a call at 14:55 from a very polite sounding woman who told her she owed HMRC money. She was warned that if she didn’t sort it out, the police would come and she’d get arrested. This is definitely a scam and something really needs to put an end to it!

Got calls from these waste of space scumbags three times now, saying they are from HMRC and threatening legal trouble if I dont get back to them quick. Im 71 and thankfully I can recognise a con when I see one, but alot of older folks might fall for it and lose their savings. Even if they catch these idiots, the useless judges probably just tell them off and let em go. They deserve serious jail time, not a slap on the wrist.

We’ve just changed home and got a new unlisted phone line, but every day we return to find voicemail messages left, always erased after. It’s getting really annoying. Honestly, these people are total scammers!!!

Got called 8 times by these wankers in the past few days, so it's pretty clear it's a scam (scammy gitzz right?) we've just been hanging up and ignoring them. Good to see I'm not alone here but I really feel for older people or those who might fall for it. Has anyone reported this to the police or some official bod? Can they actually do anything to stop it?

They left a voicemail threatening legal stuff but gave no explanation why! I’m just relieved I’m not an elderly person who might’ve actually believed that SCAM.

Just like the last two calls I got this week supposedly from HMRC, I could tell right away it was a scam. When I asked the bloke who clearly struggled with English who he was and where he was calling from, he just ended the call. I really don't understand how they get our numbers. It’s worrying because less aware people might fall for it. This kind of thing really needs to be put a stop to.

Got a call supposed from HMRC to my mum. I walked in just as she was having a massive panic attack because they said she owed nearly three grand and if she didn’t pay up today, they’d arrest her. They even warned her not to tell anyone or it would make things worse! Such nasty people! My poor mum was terrified and didn’t settle down until I phoned HMRC myself to confirm they weren’t behind it. When they phoned again, I answered and told them me and HMRC had reported them, then they just hung up within seconds. Really hope no one else falls for this scam!

I received a recorded voicemail that stated I was supposedly in some serious predicament and urged me to ring this number immediately. This has now occurred twice within the same week! I’ve decided not to return the call, as I’m quite suspicious it might lead to exorbitant charges. It certainly feels like some sort of scam to me.

I've had loads of calls from this same number as well, weirdly right after I sent off my yearly tax return. Makes you think someone might have their info leaked online. HMRC told me they never contacted me about anything, so probably best to just ignore it. They’ll stop calling after a while. I can see how it’d scare people into handing over cash for fake stuff though.

I received a call from this number, and they were making all sorts of threats about tax fraud. When I mentioned I'd involve the police, they just laughed it off and said, “I love you.” It was quite bizarre! I’m starting to worry if they can somehow clone my phone or something. I’m feeling a bit anxious about it all now.

I called this number back and asked them to say who I was. I wasnt gonna give any info over the phone but he did anyway. I also said I’d passed their number on to the police and HMRC. The guy just kept saying he loved me which was weird until I said my hubby would like to hear that and that the calls were recorded. Then the line suddenly cut off.

02080770681 - Got a call on my landline from this number yesterday, left a recorded message saying I or my lawyer had to call them straight away cos it was urgent and some legal stuff might happen if I didn't. Our number’s ex-directory so it shows as ’withheld’. Tried calling back, first time just silence, second time it said ’number busy, bye’. Complete waste of time.

This number has been calling my landline for days, saying they're from HMRC. I called back today and the tone showed it was an overseas number. An arrogant bloke with an Indian accent answered. When I told him straight up he was lying, he threatened the police would be at my door soon. Still nothing. Once I know calling it won’t cost me a bomb internationally, I plan to phone them every ten minutes till they block me. Honestly, it’s quite amusing. Don’t let them scare you, they’re just scammers.

Got a really annoying call from an Indian bloke demanding money for some supposed unpaid debt. When I asked which company it was for, he wouldn’t say, saying it wasn’t his concern. I told him I’m not giving him any money. Asked to speak to a manager and he said he IS the manager, pressing me to pay by card. Proper stressy call. These types of calls are a pain, honestly, better just to ditch your home phone completely.

The caller had an Indian accent and said his name was Gordon Mackenzie. Be careful and avoid answering this number.

I rang the number after getting two calls from it. I suspected it was dodgy, so I called using an old sim. When he asked for my name, I told him Mike Hunt a few times. Then he wanted to know what number I was called on, but I said I’m not sharing that info and told him to go take a hike, quite bluntly. He replied in a thick Punjab accent that he can’t help me unless I tell him, so I told him again he’s just a scammer. The line went dead and I haven’t managed to get through after like 19 more tries. Honestly, I’m thinking about just winding him up for a bit.
