I got a missed call that landed on my voicemail since I only have my phone plugged in when I'm away. I often ignore the messages and wind up with quite a few. So, today, 26th October 2017, at half ten in the morning, I decided to ring back, but as soon as I did, the line went completely silent. Odd, isn’t it?

Got a call from some bloke from Pakistan or something who told me not to interrupt him while he was speaking. He tried to scare me by saying I owe taxes, but I wasn't having any of it and called him out. Bit nerve-wracking at first, but thankfully I spotted it was a scam straight away.

Luckily, the call came through while I was at work, so it went straight to my answer machine. The person said they were from HMRC and that I owed them money, warning I’d get fined if I didn’t sort it out. Totally a scam, spotted it right off. I’ve blocked the number now. Absolute muppets, they seriously need to find something better to do.

Got a call from 02080770523 claiming to be from HMRC with a thick Pakistani accent. They said there was a legal case against me for tax evasion dating back to 1989. When they asked if I had a solicitor, I told them no, because I haven't worked in decades and haven't paid tax. They then requested my National Insurance number to "look into" the matter, but I questioned why they would need it after all this time, especially as I've been a housewife. Right after that, they just ended the call. Definitely a scam, don't fall for it!

I called back and a man answered with a thick Pakistani accent claiming his name was David Williams. He told me if I hung up, the police would arrive at my place within an hour to arrest me. When I tried to ask why, he said it was because my business hadn’t paid the right amount in taxes. He warned that my house, car, driving licence, bank cards and more would be taken away. He mentioned a figure of £3910, but when I pushed for details, he just repeated the police were coming and then cut the call.
