Someone said they were ringing "for the department of education through IFF" and wanted to ask about skills and training. When I told them I was busy and suggested they send the questions by email or post, they got a bit aggressive. I ended up hanging up since they didn’t seem genuine and were getting pushy.

Got several calls from this number. They wanted to talk to my 15 year old. Claimed he’d completed some paid training which he definitely hasn’t, and said the DWP gave them my contact info. When I asked what ISS research was, the woman couldn’t really explain. Let’s just say I wasn’t very polite in return.

Said they were from the Financial Conduct Authority! I asked for the address of the office they were calling from and she just dodged the question, going on and on until finally admitting she wasn't actually with the FCA! Not sure what their intentions were but they did manage to know my name!

They rang me up to ask a couple of things about an apprenticeship I completed a few years back. Just wanted to find out if it actually helped me move forward in life. Didn’t ask for any personal details like date of birth or where I live, and didn’t pry into my current circumstances either. Mainly just asked about what I was doing right before I started the apprenticeship and what I was up to six months later. The call lasted around 15 minutes, and the person on the other end was really professional. We even shared a few laughs during the chat.

Oh blimey, what a daft move! I just picked up and did the survey from this number. Now I'm wondering what to do next? Shouldn't have bothered answering at all!!

I've received calls from this number and usually just hang up before anyone speaks, but after reading the comments here, I'm wondering if it might be linked to a letter I got from HMRC about a study they’re doing through IFF RESEARCH on tax and savings. The numbers mentioned don’t match this one though, and if it was them, you'd think they’d say so? I’m not really bothered enough to dig deeper, but maybe that's what the calls are about. If anyone’s curious, you can check www.hmrc.gov.uk and look up ‘genuine HMRC contact’ like the letter says.

This guy claimed to be calling from the Department of Education, saying he wanted to do a survey about HR. When I asked how long it'd take, he said about 15 minutes. I told him I was busy, but then he started pushing, which made me a bit wary. He suggested we could start the survey now and finish it later if I had to go. I declined, and then he tried to set up a time to ring me back. I told him I couldn’t promise when I’d be free. I asked again where he was calling from, and he repeated that it was the DoE.

I said no one was there as it struck me as strange the dept of education phoning a corner shop. She asked when management might be free and when I asked what it was about, she was hesitant and just mentioned some sort of survey. Tried calling back the number but it just rings and then cuts off. Some woman kept asking to speak with Tim, Managing Director - but our MD’s name isn’t Tim at all! If they were from a legit organisation, they’d surely have this right. Didn't really feel like it, plus the lady seemed like she was just reading off a script, quite dull actually. Got a call from a woman saying she was from IFF research, claiming to represent HMRC, on 02080495693. She said it was about the DAC6 European regulations, but wouldn’t give a callback number. When I told her I wasn’t sure who she was and that I’d call back later, she said she’d send an email but then hung up before even asking for my address. Definitely seemed a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from a lady who spoke really slowly at first, made me think it was one of those automated things. She was quite rude when I said we weren’t interested. We’re on the TPS so it’s annoying that HMRC can just hand over your info and these companies ignore the regulations. It’s unbelievable how many firms call, dont listen, and keep bothering you. Just a pointless hassle for everyone.
