Somebody called me claiming to be 'Julie Smith at Sigma Advice,' telling me I’d been in an accident that wasn’t my fault. I told them that’s not true and asked nicely to be removed from their list. They just cut me off before I could finish. Got the same call just last week too.

This phone bot is pretty smart. Try asking something unusual, like “Where are you from Julie Smith,” and it’ll just cut the call right off.

They’re really persistent today. But honestly, the real question is who’s leaking our info so these calls keep coming through? I have a feeling it might be us witch[###], since that’s around the time the scam car accident calls began.

Some woman called me, Julie Smith from Sygma advice, saying I’d been involved in a car crash. I told her I’m on the TPS list and she just cut me off - pretty rude if you ask me. I only picked up cos it was a London number and I was waiting on a really important call from there. Honestly, why do these calls keep happening? Nothing ever gets done about it!

Got a dodgy call claiming to be from some traffic accident department, but the voice sounded like it was from overseas. They kept trying to get me to give details about an accident I supposedly had, but I asked them who was involved and where it happened. They couldn’t give me a straight answer and just ended the call abruptly. Definitely a scam.

I followed a suggestion I saw here: if you don’t know the number, don’t pick up, look it up online, and block it if it turns out to be dodgy. I did answer once, thought it was just an answering machine at first, then someone came on the line speaking really oddly, mumbling something about writing to me if necessary, then they just hung up annoyed! I’ll definitely be checking numbers before picking up now, that’s the best tip I’ve heard!

I've followed a tip from another comment here. If a number looks unfamiliar, don't pick up straight away, have a look it up on the internet first, and block it if it's dodgy. I did answer once and at first, it sounded like an answerphone, then this person came on the line speaking so fast I couldn’t really catch what they said, just told me to write if I needed anything, then they hung up all annoyed! From now on, I’m definitely checking numbers before I even think about answering. Best advice I've had so far!!

Proper comedy. I told them my name was Zorothy Zoreasse and that I’d been in a car crash back in Movember 2021 while munching on a custard slice and listening to Beethoven’s 209th symphonieta or summat. Then I asked why it’d rained on Wednesday night even tho the sun was out. They just hung up on me!

Just got a call about Windows (the OS, not the panes) - they knew my full name and even after I said I don't own a computer, they kept saying that because I wasn’t quick enough to answer, they’d ‘delete Windows’ and mess up my entire system. And they said they don’t take any blame for it. Such a nasty and horrible scam - really creepy and upsetting.

The caller started off by saying they got my number from a car crash I supposedly reported to the police, which wasnt true at all. I had already let 3 calls from this number go to voicemail today, but eventually I answered just to see what they wanted. Spent about 10 mins humoring them before telling them I never had an accident and then they just dropped the call.

So when you pick up, this cheesy robot voice asks if you were in a car crash, and if you say yes, it connects you to some bloke with an Indian accent. I just mess about, telling him nonsense like I wrecked my time machine last Tuesday. He got proper annoyed when I started laughing. These cold callers are just wasting our time, might as well have a bit of fun winding them up.
