It sounded like a guy from a call centre abroad. He said, "Mrs Sharp, I've got Tesco vouchers for you." I told him this isn't Mrs Sharp's number anymore (she hasn’t lived here for about 12 years). Then he just hung up without another word.

Picked up this number during my lunch break - they just dropped the call. They rang again about 5pm when I was out. Whenever random numbers call and the person doesn’t say who they are, I always ask "Who’s this?" then say "No thanks" and hang up. Must be really unsettling for elderly folks - even older than me! - to deal with these ####s constantly pestering them.

While I was out, my husband got a ring from this number. He was asked a few questions and told he’d won a £90 Tesco voucher. When I got back, I told him it was a scam and he seemed pretty gutted. I doubt he’ll be taken in by that trick again. Shame there’s no way to legally go after these scammers!

Some woman from abroad called, got my name totally wrong, then claimed I’d won a £74 million M&S voucher. I told her she had the wrong person and that I wasn’t interested, then just hung up. Make sure you keep an eye on your bank account if they keep mentioning loads of your details - they might try to set up dodgy direct debits. This happened to me before with others too.

Got a call, they wanted to speak to my dad, I said no. Then they asked who I was, I just said no again. They tried to talk to someone else, I still said no, then they called me really silly and hung up. Next time, i'll say "cucumber" just to confuse them and maybe speak in a german accent for a laugh.

this number is tied to scammers from places like Bangalore and Bombay in India, they usually try and trick you into giving away your bank info and stuff. I saw a pretty good video on youtube about some scambusters who fight back by prank calling this big scam operation, its really entertaining to hear them getting a taste of their own medicine.

Some bloke rang me, called himself Wayne, and asked for me by name. He said he was from something that sounded like ASDA, but his accent was so strong I had to ask him to repeat himself a few times. He then mentioned he wanted to give me a voucher. I told him he was having a laugh and ended the call. Honestly, I don’t really care about an ASDA voucher when there’s no store anywhere near me.

Proper strong accent and calling himself Brian White (yeah right). Told me I’d won a £50 voucher for Tesco - I don’t even shop there. Pretty obvious it was a con, especially since we’re ex-directory. As soon as I said it was a business number, "Brian" just hung up. How do these people still manage to ring through when you’re ex-directory and on the TPS list?

I got a call from someone who kept asking for a bunch of personal stuff, but I wasn’t having any of it. The person sounded really young and kept trying to charm me to find out my birth date. When I firmly said no to sharing any info, they just ended the call on me. Quite pushy, honestly.

Even though I’m with BT, this call still slipped through. Same old story, I’ve won a £50 voucher, they said I sound younger than I really am, that kinda thing. Then he said I sounded quite young, so I said 30 and that I wasn’t working. He then asked if I lived in a rented place, which made me wonder what that had to do with winning a £50 voucher. Got a call from this number and it was a woman with a foreign accent who knew my name and the town I live in. She asked my age group and said it was some sort of customer thank you call since I supposedly shop at Tesco, Sainsburys or Morrisons. Then she wanted to know if I own my own home, and asked about holidays I take. When I wouldn't share any holiday info she just ended the call straight away! Looks like a total scam to me!

When I asked why, she said it was to help lower the ridiculously high heating bills. She wouldn’t answer any of my questions, so I told her and her company not to bother calling again as it’d be harassment. She hung up, but not before I heard a big sigh. Must be a rubbish job for her, poor woman!

Sort of like a warm-up scam.

this number rang me up asking for the previous owner of my house. i said they don’t live here anymore and asked them to take my number off their list. they then said they had to have my name and address before they’d delete anything. i refused and said they shouldn’t need more personal info just to erase the record. the woman then said, ‘right, we’ll just keep ringing you until you give us your details.’ i mentioned i was recording the call and she got proper rude, saying ‘go ahead and record, we’ll keep calling you back.’ then she just ended the call.

I just let it ring through to my voicemail. They didn’t hang up before the message kicked in. From the noise on the recording it sounds like a call centre. I rang the number back to check, and all I got was “the person you’ve dialled is unavailable, please try again later!”
