Phone number ☎️ 02070848165 👆 is reported as a widespread Amazon impersonation scam targeting UK users via phone calls and WhatsApp messages. Scammers claim unauthorised iPhone purchases, pressuring victims to share verification codes sent through WhatsApp. They often use convincing details like full names and addresses but fumble on account specifics. The scam involves urgent requests to provide codes to ‘cancel’ orders, with aggressive behaviour if questioned. Victims warn the calls and messages appear legitimate, even showing a blue tick on WhatsApp, but Amazon never cold calls or requests codes this way. Many report blocking numbers and alerting authorities. The scam is highly persistent, using various local numbers and business impersonation, aiming to hijack Amazon accounts by exploiting unsuspecting users’ trust.

2 monthsGot a call from someone pretending to be Amazon about a Prime refund. They sent a one-time code through WhatsApp claiming it was from Amazon. When I didn’t give them the code, they just ended the call. Total scam!AmazonWhatsApp2 monthsI got a call claiming to be from Amazon, saying someone had set up a new account using my details to buy an iPhone. They sent a link for me to verify it. When I reached out to Amazon directly, their response was pretty vague - they basically said it might not be them, but possibly it was, without giving me any concrete info. Honestly, all I wanted was a clear answer, but I’m still clueless. Just to be safe, I’ve blocked the number now.Amazon2 monthsSo earlier today my mum rang me asking if I’d ordered anything off Amazon because she’d got a strange code sent to her. A few hours later while I was with her, she got a call from an unknown number which on her screen showed as “Rebecca Hamilton” - clearly a made-up name. This person claimed to be from the bank’s fraud department. Rebecca was on speaker and said there were suspicious transactions rejected on my mum’s card from a place miles away (my mum’s down south but they said Manchester). A few things struck me: 1. Rebecca knew which bank my mum used. 2. She also had an approximate idea of mum’s location, though it was a nearby town, not her actual village, so maybe they used some basic IP tracking. 3. The woman speaking had a Croydon-ish London accent and sounded young, like in her twenties. Then Rebecca asked mum to visit the bank’s website and send a WhatsApp text to the bank’s fraud email, telling her to put mum’s initials in the subject line so it’d be easier for her to find. Mum emailed it, and when we asked Rebecca to read back the message to prove she was really from the bank, she said she’d open it but after some awkward noises she suddenly hung up. Mum rang the bank straight away, and they confirmed they weren’t involved. Definitely a scam.AmazonRebecca HamiltonRebeccaManchesterLondonWhatsApp2 monthsWatch out, got a message on WhatsApp from someone pretending to be Amazon, trying to trick me into clicking a dodgy link. She asked me to give her a verification code to cancel the order. I played along and gave her the code she sent me back. Turns out it was all a con. Told her to get lost and she got angry, saying I’d owe money. Hung up on her right away. It’s a huge scam - that "verification code" is actually what lets them hack your account and steal from you.4 monthsYeah, I had a similar thing happen. Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent asking if I’d bought a MacBook on my account. She sent me a WhatsApp message with a code, then followed up with an email containing another code. Stay safe and just ignore these!WhatsAppAmazonNEVER4 monthsI got a message on WhatsApp saying there was an issue with an Amazon order. This kind of thing should really be put to a stop. I’ve reported it as a scam.DerekAmazon6 monthsGot a call pretending to be from Amazon, claiming there was an issue with my iPhone order - pretty much the same trick everyone talks about. Weirdly, they knew my name which almost made me believe them. Luckily, I remembered that real Amazon never asks for the OTP, so I gave them a random code instead. After that, I got a couple of WhatsApp messages, but I told them I didn’t get any, and then the caller just dropped the line. I’ve since blocked both the number and the WhatsApp contact, and reported them too.AmazonOTPWhatsApp7 monthsGot a ring from someone claiming to be from Amazon, saying they’d put a yearly subscription on my account (I only have monthly Prime, mind).
