I got a call from someone pretending to be Amazon, but I reckon it was a scam since they were using what looked like the real customer service number. Best thing is to avoid those and use the free 0800 Amazon number you can find online, or just contact them through the app instead.

Totally a con. I suspected something dodgy as soon as I saw this page, so I gave them a ring just to check. The bloke wouldn’t tell me his last name and kept pestering me for strange info. Their voicemail even asked for your phone number or email to send a link - sounded fishy from the start. As I thought, it was all a scam. I’m definitely reporting it to Action Fraud. I got a call from the number 01609 777248, and the person said they were from Amazon security, warning me that someone was trying to set up a 'fake account' using the email linked to my Amazon. I asked for a callback number, and they gave me 0207 0847911. When I tried calling back 01609, it said 'number not recognised'. Since I have a couple of accounts, I asked which email provider the supposed fake account was using, but they wouldn't tell me. Plus, they never used my name and just kept saying 'mam'. I got a call from an unfamiliar number where the person said they were with Amazon. They claimed I’d just bought an iPhone for £750 through my account and asked if I wanted to go ahead with it. I was pretty suspicious and asked a lot of questions, but she sounded super believable. When I asked for a number to reach the Amazon Fraud team, she actually gave me that same number to call back. It was kinda scary since she acted so well. When I suggested she might be trying to scam me, she shot back an Amazon ID and told me off for making accusations without proof!

I got a call from someone saying they were Michael Clark in the Verification team, offering a £49 gift card. It felt strange since I was already trying to buy a £50 gift card at the same time. Some bloke named Mason Williams rang claiming he was from the Amazon Help Desk. He said this guy Alan was supposedly trying to renew an Amazon subscription using my dad’s info, which was news to me as Alan doesn’t know any of dad’s details. The guy sounded pretty legit at first but got really touchy when I said I’d call the cops. Apparently, we had two hours to cancel or they’d charge the card on file. I just said we’d contact Amazon ourselves and he got all annoyed and hung up. My old dad could’ve fallen for that easily, but luckily I was around to sort it out.

Beware of a dodgy call from a supposed company called The Cavity Wall Assessment Company, but when asked, they said the real name was Chambers & Churchill. The people on the other end were quite pushy and downright rude. The director, a bloke named Paul O'Donnell, was even worse - he flat out refused to take my details off their list. They also rang from the number 02086369200. Wouldn't trust these lot for a second.
