Totally a con. I suspected something dodgy as soon as I saw this page, so I gave them a ring just to check. The bloke wouldn’t tell me his last name and kept pestering me for strange info. I received a call from a different phone number, with the person claiming to be from Amazon. Supposedly calling from Amazon headquarters in Holborn, London, he requested that I download an app called QuickStep or a similar name. Some bloke named Mason Williams rang claiming he was from the Amazon Help Desk. He said this guy Alan was supposedly trying to renew an Amazon subscription using my dad’s info, which was news to me as Alan doesn’t know any of dad’s details. The guy sounded pretty legit at first but got really touchy when I said I’d call the cops. Apparently, we had two hours to cancel or they’d charge the card on file. I just said we’d contact Amazon ourselves and he got all annoyed and hung up. My old dad could’ve fallen for that easily, but luckily I was around to sort it out.
