My other half got a text claiming to be from HMRC, like it says here. She rang the number they gave and didn’t catch on it was a scam straight away, so ended up giving out her DOB, name and NI number. By the end of the phone call the person on the other end started being really rude and s##ty.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, total mug, saying a policy officer would show up because I hadn’t paid my taxes. They said I owed £2415 to HMRC. When I asked for details like why I owed it and who my previous employer was, they just hung up on me. These muppets really need to be reported to the police. What a joke!

About 20 minutes back I got a call while walking and using my phone, the connection kept cutting out. From what I could catch, the person said they were from HMRC and warned me about consequences if I didn't call back straight away. My gut told me it was dodgy, so I searched online and found out loads of people reckon this number’s linked to scams. Surely if HMRC had any real issues with you, they’d send a proper letter with info and a deadline, not just ring you like this? I've never heard of HMRC doing this kind of phone call before!

I told him I’ve been unemployed for a while and have no money or credit cards available. After that, they just suddenly cut the call.
