Got a call from a young woman with an Asian accent claiming I’d been overcharged £119 on some appliance insurance I don’t even have. She wanted my bank details to refund me. I said no, ask me for a cheque instead, and when she asked for my bank info to verify who I am, I said the name on the cheque should be enough. Cut her off and hung up. Since then, they’ve called me a bunch of times, and I just keep telling them I’m waiting for the cheque.

Someone rang saying they were from some Appliance Insurance company and said I was owed £19 back for my washing machine cover. They asked me for my bank details, sort code and account number, but then said they didn’t actually have them. I then asked if they could post me a cheque instead, but they claimed they didn’t have my address either. According to them, the only info they have is my name and my landline number. Felt really dodgy to me.

Someone rang me pretending to be from a washing machine warranty service, saying they’d mistakenly taken £119 from my bank. They rattled off an address I hadn’t lived at for over a decade and asked how I wanted the refund. Trying to drag the call out, I told them to send a cheque. Then, I got passed to a manager who said they had to verify my identity and told me to check my bank statement for a code starting with GB in the top right corner. I couldn’t find anything like that, but spotted the IBAN begins with GB. When I questioned if that’s what they meant, they just cut me off!

Some bloke phoned saying I was owed a refund for a washing machine warranty. I told him that's not right coz I always get my gadgets from the one place, and they do this 5-year rolling warranty deal if you keep buying stuff with them. I even told him to check out the company on Google - it's called "Trotters Independent Trading"! You can't make this stuff up.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent saying he was from Homeserve and wanted to give me a refund for some home insurance. He asked for my bank info, but I called him out as a scammer and he just hung up. This is the third time I've had calls like this today, all from different numbers that sound like the same guy - also from 02045204762 and 02036089546. I've blocked these numbers with a call blocker now, but it’s really getting annoying since they keep switching the numbers they use. This scam is definitely running rampant.

Definitely a scam, they use loads of numbers that are pretty much the same. This time, I got a woman called Christine who barely spoke English, telling me I had a refund coming for my washing machine warranty. Problem is, that washing machine broke down and went in the bin over ten years ago. When I told her I was gonna report the number, they just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from this number around 7.40pm yesterday evening. The bloke said his name was Drew and he had a bit of an Asian accent but spoke really well. Claimed I was due £190 back on my washing machine warranty cause of some overcharge. I didn’t hang around, told him flat out he was a con artist and quickly ended the call, then blocked the number. Fed up with all these calls popping up from random numbers all saying the same rubbish.

In just two days, this number has rung me 5 separate times. They claimed there was an overpayment on my washing machine and asked for my bank info. They already had my name and address, which was a bit unsettling. One of the callers even got pretty annoyed when I didn’t go along with it. This needs to be dealt with quickly, as it could be dangerous for more vulnerable folks.

Fraud alert! If you receive any suspicious calls or messages, please make sure to report them. Head over to the ‘police.uk’ website and search for ‘action fraud’. On there, you’ll find a section about reporting phishing scams - read it carefully. After that, just submit the details of the scam straight to their system; you don’t need to sign up or share personal info. Be sure to include any links or websites involved. The police rely on these reports to track how widespread these scams are, so it’s crucial to let them know.

I received a call from this number earlier today (26th March) - it was a woman with a foreign accent who asked to speak to Mrs Sargend. I repeated the name back to her, only for her to abruptly disconnect. This isn't the first instance; I experienced a similar situation a week or so ago, but by the time I got up and reached the phone, the caller had already ended the call. It’s concerning if numerous individuals have received calls from this number. Could BT not track them down and put an end to this hassle? I'm of an older generation, but thankfully, I’m not easily fooled. However, it makes me anxious thinking that if my husband were still around-he had Alzheimer’s-he might have fallen for their tricks without a moment’s hesitation. This is precisely what worries me: the many vulnerable elderly folks who trust too easily. I appreciate any assistance in identifying this number. I’ll be primed and ready for their next attempt!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from a washing machine warranty company, saying they were going to refund us £190 for being overcharged. She asked for our e-mail so she could send the info, but when I asked her to just give me the details then and there, she snapped back with "Don’t be cheeky" and instantly cut the call. Felt pretty threatening and just plain annoying.

Got a call from one of those Indian call centres, they kept asking for some Mrs, but I couldn’t catch her name. Said I’d find her and just left the phone there while I got on with other stuff.

Had a call about some washing machine refund rip-off. I played along, told her I owned about 20 flats and asked which machine exactly she meant. She got proper narked when I started grilling her about how many folks she managed to fool and how she could sleep at night scamming honest people out of their cash. Eventually she slammed the phone down, calling me a “silly old man” for arguing. Haha, bring it on! Glad I wasted a few minutes of her time so maybe she couldn’t scam someone else.

I got scammed out of £119 on some washing machine warranty refund. Honestly, I just want to give them a good slap for pulling this stunt!

Got a call a bit ago, didn’t know the number so I just let it go to voicemail. No message or anything left though.

I’ve been promised a refund of £119 for an excess payment on my insurance. However, they’ve requested my credit card details to process it.

It's so annoying how they just call and the moment you pick up, they cut off the line. What kinda idiots do that?

I received a call from a woman named Sharon, who was proposing a reimbursement for an insurance policy. Seems quite dodgy to me, definitely not buying into it!

Got a call from this number, a woman claiming she bought a washing machine from us but hadn’t sent enough money. She asked me straight up for our bank details so she could sort the payment. Felt like a total scam to me.

Watch out, this is a scam about appliance insurance refunds. They ask for your bank sort code and account number, saying it’s just for a direct debit or something. Please don’t hand over any details!

They called sayin it was about my washing machine. Total con though, all they wanted was my bank info. I blocked them on my mobile but now they’re dialing the landline. I may be old, but I’m no mug! Really peeved off about this.

I got a call from 02045204929 and from what others here have said, it's defo a scam. I could just about catch a bloke calling me by name, but honestly he sounded like he was nowhere near his phone, like maybe he had a bucket over his head or summat. Honestly, kinda fits him.

I get calls from this number about three times daily. We just let it go to voicemail, but they never leave a message. Seems pretty fishy to me.

Got a call about a refund for some home appliance insurance I never signed up for. They somehow already had my name and postcode too. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

I’m due a refund for a washing machine warranty, but when I explained that I don’t even have a washing machine, they abruptly hung up on me. Clearly, it’s yet another dodgy call!

I received a call from someone claiming that I was owed a refund for a washing machine warranty, and they requested my bank statement details. I couldn’t help but remark that it was a shame she didn’t find a more reputable way to earn a living rather than attempting to swindle folks. It really felt like a scam! Before I could set her straight with a few choice words, she hung up on me!

Honestly, do they really believe we’re that naive about the washing machine discount nonsense? It’s as if they think we’ve just popped into existence!

Received a call attempting to get me to hand over my washing machine warranty refund! Total scam. Honestly, it's infuriating how these scammers operate- they should look for a genuine job rather than deceiving hardworking folks. Whatever you do, don’t share any personal info with them!

It's obvious that this phone number belongs to some sort of scam operation, so why on earth does it seem impossible to put a stop to them? It’s utterly frustrating!

Some bloke called saying they’d need my bank info to give me a refund for the washing machine warranty I’d apparently overpaid on. Sounded like a proper con to me.

No idea who was on the line or what they needed. They called asking for me and started talking, but then just stopped after saying "I'm calling from." The line stayed noisy for about ten seconds after before they just dropped the call. Really odd.

Today I’ve had about ten calls from scammers and foolishly picked up one of them again. When the bloke asked for someone I don’t know, I said I wasn’t that person and mentioned the ATM they were talking about was shut. He didn’t bother staying on the line after that and ended the call quickly. I’m on the TPS and my number isn’t listed anywhere, so really, no one should be ringing me unless I’ve shared my details with them.

Got a call from some guy in India saying I'd been charged too much for my electrical insurance and offered me a refund. I said yeah, sure, just put the money back into my bank account where it came from. Then he says he can't do that because it was paid by direct debit but he can still refund me if I give him my bank details. I was like, hold on, I already told you how I paid, so why do you need my info now? Obviously, I wasn't falling for it. I called him out and asked if he was trying to scam me. Immediately the call ended. I've blocked that number since.

I keep getting calls from these scammers in Asia asking for my ex-stepson who hasn’t lived here for eight years. It’s almost like clockwork, about 5 calls every week, all of them telling me his "computer is sending out harmful messages" or some rubbish like that. Always the same story. I shout down the phone that he’s dead and demand they stop calling me. Doesn’t seem to get through to them at all. Wish there was some way like in those movies, where you press a special code and it sends a shock back that blows their phone up or something. I can’t stand these scammers.

Tried sorting a refund for some homecare fees and ended up giving them my bank info... or at least I thought I did, ha! Just kept feeding them random numbers. They kept saying, "Sir, the bank number’s wrong." Spot on, mate! Anyway, finally got them to buzz off, then passed the phone to someone else for a good ten minutes.

Watch out, this is a SCAM! If you’ve had one of these dodgy calls, you should report it straight away. Just search for ‘Action Fraud’ on Google, head to the ‘police.uk’ website and find the page about reporting phishing. It’s worth reading all the info they provide, then you can submit the details of the scam right there on their system. Make sure to add any website links or other info you have. That’s really the only way the police can track how bad this problem is and hopefully stop these crooks.

I had a similar situation with Home Repairs. They kept pressuring me for my "Customer reference" from my bank statement, saying it wasn’t my banking info. Then they went on to ask for the IBAN, which obviously includes all your banking info. When I requested their company reference number to verify, the one they gave me didn’t check out at all. Seriously, be careful and don’t hand over your IBAN to them!
