I received a call with no one on the line, but I could hear some chattering in the distance.

It’s likely that this number belongs to some sort of autodialer. It seems like they’re merely probing to identify who picks up. Every time it rings, there's silence on the other end before they hang up. It's as if they're checking whether my line is active or not. I'm not completely convinced, but I have a strong suspicion since I've received a dozen missed calls, yet not a single voicemail has been left. That’s quite unusual for me!

Quite suspicious, really. The gentleman didn't bother to share his name or the company he represented. Yet, he had a name he thought belonged to me and seemed rather keen on confirming my identity. When I pressed him for details about who he was and which organisation he worked for, he abruptly ended the call. Odd behaviour, wouldn’t you say?

If you don’t recognise the number, best to just let it ring out, most likely it’s just spam. These callers often just dial out to loads of numbers hoping to find someone who picks up, then sell those contacts to scammers trying to steal your info. I always check this site before calling back. Stay safe everyone :)

Picked up the phone but there was absolute silence on the other end, came from a blocked number.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with an insurance firm, offering me some new quotes. When I told them I’d rather check myself and said no thanks, they just ended the call. I’ve blocked the number since then.

As soon as I picked up, they just ended the call straight away. Then, when I tried calling them back, they asked why I kept calling and then cut the line again. Quite bizarre really.
