Sounds like one of those call centres from India. They tried to pitch a supposed better phone deal, but as soon as I mentioned I’d just got a new contract, they kept pushing, asking about my phone model and all that. I told them I wasn’t interested, but they wouldn’t take the hint. Ended up hanging up on them and blocking the number.

Just had a chap ring me up, claiming to represent O2, and he was all about cautioning me against sharing any personal details over the phone. When I inquired further, he launched into a rather muddled explanation and said he’d be sending me a couple of texts. They try to get you to ring them from your own phone so they can get into it. Sometimes they'll ask for your card info for some bill that doesn’t even exist. They pretend to be various departments of Wirral Council if you do call back, but if you happen to catch someone for real, it's a no-go. Otherwise, you just get silence.
