Somebody pretending to be from Virgin Media promotions called me. They already knew my name, number and network. They asked for my address saying it was to check if I could get a new deal. Sounded way too good to be true. When I asked them to just check on their system, they said they didn’t have access and needed my address to move the number and set up the deal. I asked them to prove who they were by confirming some parts of my password and then suddenly they just ended the call. Definitely fishy!

There was a long quiet spell before i finally said "silent call", then a woman with an Indian accent came on. She was trying to sell me an iPhone 13Pro with a mobile deal for £38 a month and said she worked for mobilephonesdirect. When she asked about my network, they had no clue and I kept quiet. I also asked if they knew about the TPS list and why they bothered calling me despite me being registered. I told her this was against the rules and that I could report them for it.

The person on the phone was mumbly and I think they mentioned something like ‘Curry’s Mobile,’ but that brand hasn’t existed for ages, so not really sure what they were going on about. It’s definitely not anyone I know, so I'm guessing it was just another spam call. They tried the usual sales trick of asking questions that make it hard to say ‘No’ straight away, but having worked in sales myself, I wasn’t falling for it. I nicely told them I had no clue who they were and then ended the call.
