Sounded good till I realised she (had a strong accent, greeted me with “Good afternoon ma’am”) was talking about my old address, where I haven’t been living for four years now. She was pretty relentless though!

Theres this Asian woman who keeps calling about some appliance insurance, sounds like a scam to me. She rings about once a month, but each time from a different number, so I just block whatever number she’s on. When I answer, I usually just put the phone down and let it ring for ages so she can’t call anyone else, then I hang up after a bit. It’s pretty annoying but at least it stops her from bothering others for the time being.

Got a call from a woman, sounded like she wasn’t from around here, who asked for me by name but didn’t say who she was exactly at first. Then she said she was ringing from Platinum Electrical Home Care about some kind of electrical insurance. I told her straight up that I didn’t have any insurance with them and wasn’t interested in getting any, and asked her to remove my number from their calling list. Probably wishful thinking, though.

But then this woman, claiming to be Mel (though her accent made that doubtful), started going on about covering all my electrical devices since their warranties had run out. When I pressed her about which specific device she meant, she just said all of them. I then asked who’d foot the bill, and she said it’d be me. That’s when she abruptly ended the call. Clearly a SCAM, so watch out if you get a call from this number.

Got a call from some bloke wanting to chat with my missus. Wouldn't say what it was about, just kept saying it was a 'courtesy' call. I asked if we'd asked for it, cos if not, it's just a pest of a call. Then I mentioned my wife passed away in May, but he just kept going like it wasn't important. In the end, I just ended the call. Wish I had done that sooner.

Thing is, both machines stopped being covered over a decade ago and are insured with a legit company. Total scam alert. I received a rather unsettling call from a number that looked all too familiar, 01273655004, and it was yet another one of those pesky messages regarding "insurance for my washing machine." Given that my appliance is pushing a decade in age and has never been insured, it didn’t take much to realise both calls were nothing more than a con. The chap from the first call claimed to represent "Premier Protect." Quite the cheek!

Some bloke called saying his name was Dave and that my home electric coverage was up for renewal. He said he'd send some papers once he verified my info. Thing is, I don't have any of those policies at all. When I told him that, he just cut me off. Seems like the usual scam but with a real human voice instead of one of those automatic calls - probably trying to get past my phone's call blocker. I'd recommend just blocking numbers like this straight away.

Today at about 4.08pm, I got a call from this number from a guy with an Asian accent. He claimed the warranty on my washing machine had ended. I told him my washing machine was well over 15 years old, so obviously it had! Then he started going on about warranties for fridges and freezers as well. I just said no cheers to that. Honestly, it's the millionth time I've had cold calls about appliances, plus loads of other unwanted calls too.
