Someone rang claiming to be from Platinum Homecare. I told them I’m on the TPS and that their call was dodgy, then they just cut me off. I checked their details and phoned back just to see if it was about my mum’s care, but when I asked them about Platinum Homecare, they ended the call straight away. Blocked their number after that.

A few weeks ago, I got a call from someone named Liane claiming to be from Platinum Homecare Insurance. She said my warranty insurance was nearly due to run out (which it definitely isn't) and offered me a renewal. I quickly told her it sounded like a classic scam and that I wasn’t handing over my card details. Then I just hung up. Sometimes I wonder where they find our details and names - probably from some data leak or breach that’s happened recently. Stay sharp out there, folks!

I got a call from someone saying my washing machine warranty was about to end and offered to extend it for £95 plus some benefits. They knew my address but couldn't give me any info about the machine itself. When I asked for details to be sent by post, they said they couldn’t unless I agreed to a direct debit. Sounds dodgy to me, so I just told them it was a scam and ended the call.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Platinum Insurance, saying my washing machine warranty was about to expire. I let the bloke go on for a bit, then told him I never even bought a warranty and asked where on earth he got my phone number from. He kept going on, but I just ended the call. Blocked the number straight away. Bet he’ll try calling back from a different number though. The guy said his name was David, but his accent sounded off - like a fake American one or something.

On 24th August 2020, got a call from an Indian woman saying she was with Platinum Insurance. She said I could get a discount if I bought five electrical things and asked for my info. Got a call from some bloke trying to sell me a warranty renewal on my appliances. I asked him to specify which ones he meant and he said the TV, washing machine, and a fridge-freezer. That’s when I knew it was dodgy - I haven’t bought new gear in ages and I definitely don’t have a fridge-freezer. When I told him he was wrong, he insisted their records were always right and that I did own those appliances. I kept him talking for a bit but he soon got annoyed and hung up. Ended up blocking the number.

Got a call from a woman speaking with an Indian accent claiming to be from Platinum Cover. She told me my washing machine's warranty had just finished and tried to convince me to move all my appliances over to them, saying it'd save me cash and I’d get a 25% discount since I’m supposedly an OAP! Then she said the service would only set me back £225 as a single payment. No chance! Got a call from some guy claiming to be from ‘Platinum Homecare’ about my washing machine cover running out. I got a call from some bloke who said my washing machine’s extended warranty was up. Funny thing is, he couldn’t even say what model I had. I told him I’d got a five year warranty, and he insisted it was “expired,” but when I mentioned I’d only just got the machine, he quickly said sorry and hung up. My old washer lasted 12 years, but the warranty was only for 3, so this guy was way off by about 9 years!
