Someone managed to get into my laptop without my permission.

Naturally, this seems to be a bit of a con, doesn’t it?

I've come to the conclusion that it's a scam, yet I can't seem to shake off this page! It's rather frustrating, to say the least.

What’s the best way to get rid of that pesky scam virus?

I decided to ring the number that claimed to be from Microsoft, only to be met with requests for my banking information under the pretext of needing to install an antivirus app. Alarm bells rang in my head, so I promptly hung up. Later, I did a quick search online and discovered that it was all a fraudulent scheme.

I recently made the leap to Windows 10 and was bombarded with alarms and dire warnings claiming that our computer had been compromised and would soon be cut off from the web. Recognising it for the nonsense it was, we decided to have a little chuckle and rang them up. An Indian gentleman on the other end attempted to convince my wife to hand over our passwords so he could remotely access our computer and "resolve" the issue. I swiftly told him that his team was a bunch of notorious scammers and disconnected the call. Unsurprisingly, a comprehensive scan with McAfee, which they derided as insufficient in detecting the supposed threat (what a laugh!), confirmed that our system is completely secure.

I regretfully got caught up in a dodgy scam. After enduring an error sound for what felt like ages, I decided to call the number provided. An Indian bloke, claiming to be from Microsoft, insisted he needed to remotely access my device to fix the issue. However, he hit a wall as he discovered I lack administrator privileges and access rights. Without hesitation, he dropped the call, telling me to get in touch with my IT support. What a farce!

I recently fell into a tricky situation when I unwittingly dialled what turned out to be a scam number. A chap with an Indian accent picked up, and before long he was trying to gain access to my laptop. It raised a few red flags when he refused to disclose the name of the company he purportedly represented. I cut the call and turned off my laptop in a panic. Thankfully, upon rebooting, the pesky error message was gone. It's absolutely baffling that these scammers are still out there pulling their stunts without being stopped. Let's hope they get dealt with soon!

I had a similar experience recently. My device was bombarded with pop-ups claiming I'd been compromised. Foolishly, I called the number displayed, only to be greeted by an Indian accent before I abruptly ended the call. I decided to power everything down and back up again, then ran a virus scan-thankfully, it came back clean.

Absolute lowlifes, these scammers. Quite simple to thwart, really. Just pull up Task Manager and terminate Edge. It sneaks in a little application named Windows 10 Update and Privacy Settings. Just kick it to the curb. Easy as pie. Honestly, it’s a rather feeble ploy from the usual dimwits, isn't it?

They really are quite adept at masquerading as representatives of Microsoft, yet the truth is they are nothing but con artists based in India. I urge you, whatever you do, do NOT dial this number!

My laptop threw up a warning message and then stubbornly refused to shut down. In a moment of poor judgement, I rang the number displayed. To summarise my experience, it quickly became clear that the individual who gained remote access was either attempting to peddle some dubious antivirus software or demanding a hefty £79.00 for their so-called assistance in getting my computer back on its feet, which I later discovered was a simple fix. I've had to go through the hassle of changing all my passwords, informing my bank, and scanning every device in the house. The alerts that pop up on screen are rather overdramatic, so I would strongly advise against contacting these people. It’s best to tackle the issue by shutting down any suspicious activities via the task manager.

I received a message on my computer urging me to ring a number regarding a supposed virus on my device. Whatever you do, don't pick up the phone! Just disregard the pop-up on your screen. It's a massive con!

I’ve stumbled upon a dodgy helpline number that appears to be linked to tech support fraudsters operating out of India. These chaps are certainly up to no good, trying to pull the wool over folks' eyes by claiming their computers are riddled with infections. They employ the classic tricks of the trade:
- Perusing the event viewer for mundane errors and logs,
- Diving into msconfig to highlight perfectly standard services that have halted,
- And running commands in the command prompt like tree, dir, and netstat to create a fuss.
- To top it off, they have this scripted file that throws out insincere security warnings when executed. It’s a right shame that some people fall for their ruse!
