I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said he was ringing from Smart Box about my electronics - microwave, iPad, phones, tablets and all. He somehow knew my name and even my postcode. He mentioned that since I’m the bill payer and a pensioner, I could get a discount. I told him I’m not a pensioner though, and then he said that meant I’d have to pay £12 a month for insurance. I corrected him, saying his info was wrong, and then he just hung up on me.

Total scam. They claimed to be from Domestic & General but it was completely fake.

Got a call from this number and it popped up as a "nuisance call." Decided not to answer, and now I’m glad I didn’t!

Just like everyone else said, this number is nothing but a total bother and probably some kind of scam. Can’t be bothered with it, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked it. Complete waste of time.

I had a call about renewing my appliance insurance with some promise of a discount. The person was really trying to convince me it wasn't a scam, but as soon as I told them I don’t have any policies like that, they just hung up on me. Bit suspicious if you ask me!

As soon as I picked up, they hung up on me. Most likely another annoying call centre. Didn’t bother to leave a message either!

I answered this number but stayed silent. The person calling didn’t say a word either. Definitely felt sketchy, and I reckon it was a dodgy caller.

Somebody rang me up saying they were from County Appliances, banging on about covering kitchen gadgets. I told ’em flat out they didn’t, and if my fridge or freezer goes kaput, I’d just get a new one. They seemed totally shocked when I mentioned I could fork out £400. I cut the call short after that. Just another dodgy scam, really.

Ever noticed how they just stay silent when you answer? Feels like some kind of silly prank they’re playing just to annoy you, I reckon.

Some folks mentioned it might be Home.serve, which I actually have insurance with. They usually send me reminders through the mail, so next time this number rings me I’ll ask them for my account details just to be sure it’s legit.

This number called me and I hung up straight away, but it called back again not long after. Some folks on here mention it’s Home Serve, which is who I get my plumbing and electric insurance from. As far as I’m aware, my cover’s still active though. Maybe they’re switching to just phone calls instead of sending letters?

Got a call from someone saying they were from homecare, asking if my electrical stuff was all right. I was a bit wary and asked why she wanted that info. She went on about sending an engineer out for repairs, but I don't even have any policy with them. I guess if I really searched, I might find something to fix! When I asked for the policy number, she just hung up on me. I’ve blocked the number straight away now!

As soon as I answered, the call was ended. Could just be a wrong number, but often it means some scam call centre’s auto-dialler got me and no one was actually available to chat. I’d say it’s best to be careful with calls like that.

Got a call earlier from a young woman who said she was with Homecare. She asked if I wanted to renew my coverage for less since I hadn’t claimed anything. But she never mentioned which appliance it was for. I only bought a new one about a month ago, so there’s no way I’d need a claim already! Felt a bit dodgy, so I just ended the call quickly.

Got a call on my landline from someone who said they were from a home care service, about my appliances warranty. They actually knew my name which made me think it was genuine since I had a kitchen done last year. But I only have a fridge, not one of those fridge freezers, and I kept my old washing machine. When I mentioned that, she paused and asked if I was certain! Then she just abruptly ended the call. Quite a strange one!

Got a call on my home phone meant for the previous owner of my place - she sold it to me like 17 years back. BT messed up and I ended up with her old number. Looks like the list they’re using hasn’t been updated in forever. Felt like a total scam, so I didn’t even bother hearing what tricks they had in mind. Plus, the awkward silence before they spoke? Classic sign of some dodgy scammer probably calling from overseas.

I picked up the phone and a woman with what sounded like a Scandinavian accent started chatting about insurance, home appliances, and claims and all that stuff... 😂😂 I just thanked her for calling and ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam.

They claimed to be from an insurance company. Mentioned that since I hadn’t requested any call-outs, the price would stay the same. When I asked what things I had covered, they said cooker, washing machine and dishwasher. Thing is, I don’t have any appliances insured at all, and I don’t even own a dishwasher. So yeah, definitely seemed dodgy to me.

Got a call from some "home appliances" company, but they didn’t even know the brands I actually own. Used all these vague, made-up names. Pretty obvious to me it was some dodgy scammer, hope they get what's coming to them when the revolution starts.

They called saying they could lower my insurance premium for my cooker and washing machine, then asked me to confirm my card details. Thing is, I don’t even have insurance for those items. When I mentioned this, they just said "oh, right" and ended the call.

This number has been bugging me with calls every evening last week. It rings a couple of times, then stops, only to try again a few more times. If it was anything urgent, they’d leave a voicemail, right? Whatever it is, steer clear of these dodgy calls and stay safe.

This number has been ringing me repeatedly on my mobile these past few days. My phone flagged it as potential SPAM so I’ve just ignored it. I’m wondering if it’s alright to pick up and tell whoever’s at the other end that I’m aware it’s a scam, and ask them to stop or that I’ll be reporting them to the police? Also, how do you actually go about reporting these calls, and is there an official body that deals with this kind of thing?

I tried picking up, but they disconnected before I could get to the phone. When I called back, an automated voice answered. It sounded like some insurance firm, and they said if you don't want them contacting you again, just call a mobile number they gave. Feels like a dodgy scam to me.
