I initially suspected this might be a con and decided to check the phone number on a different device using Google. It turns out I was right - it’s definitely a scam. Proceed with caution!

I ended up on this site after a legit looking webpage told me a robot voice detected a virus and told me to ring the provided number straight away. As my device was frozen, I rebooted it and went here to warn others. This looks just like the classic microsoft virus scam. Don’t get tricked by it. Stay clear of the 10 things site as it often links to these kinds of dodgy scams. Cheers.

Similar to numerous others, I encountered a rather alarming pop-up on my device, accompanied by a disembodied voice urging me to ring a specific number without delay, claiming that my system had been compromised by a virus, putting my personal data and security at risk. The voice unsettlingly referenced my geographical area and internet service provider, presumably gleaned from my IP address, though the overall spiel struck me as quite dubious. The presentation was characterised by garish colours and frenetic animations, creating a cacophony of visual chaos. Nevertheless, I must admit it did create a slight sense of unease!

try pressing ctrl-alt-del then look for microsoft edge down under the processes section (just below apps) and hit end task there. this normally closes the tab instead of shutting the entire browser, and helps unfreeze edge. not sure if it can leave any malware on your computer tho. i haven’t noticed anything weird on mine but it’s a good idea to do a scan before and after rebooting your pc just to be safe.

My computer froze up and the screen popped up telling me to ring this number for a virus fix. Don’t bother calling - just reboot your machine and run a scan with Malwarebytes or something like that.

I recently experienced a rather alarming pop-up on my computer claiming that a virus had been found and urging me to ring a certain number. Not being particularly tech-savvy, I thought it prudent to look up the number online first, which turned out to be a fortunate decision, as it was clearly a scam. I've since shut down my computer and plan to initiate an antivirus scan to ensure everything is in order. Seriously, do yourself a favour and steer clear of replying to that number!

Received a notification and a voicemail claiming there was an issue, which subsequently locked me out of my device. I managed to reboot my laptop and ran a scan with my antivirus software. It turns out I've just been informed that it was all a fraudulent scheme.

I've encountered a similar issue to what others have mentioned. I received a robotic voice on my screen, referencing my local area and claiming my computer was infected with a virus, urging me to call a supposed "Microsoft" hotline. The voice and incessant pop-up were relentless, so I finally decided to power off my machine. After doing a bit of research on the number, it turned out to be nothing more than a scam. Once I rebooted my computer, everything seemed fine, but I opted to wipe my browsing history in Chrome just to be on the safe side.

Just got hit by one of those fake virus alert pages. Don’t ring the number they show. Best thing to do is shut the browser and reboot your PC. Also, I’d run an antivirus scan and maybe a malware remover just to be safe.

I’m not exactly a whiz with computers, but I’ve encountered something rather dodgy. It seems to be an IT support operation that hijacks your screen, alleging that a virus has infected your system, and prompts you to ring a certain number for help. I, unfortunately, fell for it and followed their directions. They eventually presented me with a list of fees for their ‘support’ to unlock my screen and boost my computer’s performance. It’s worth noting that all the individuals I spoke to appeared to be of Asian descent, which made me even more suspicious. It really does feel like a scam to me - thankfully, I refrained from sharing any banking information. I’ve decided to have my computer thoroughly cleaned and reprogrammed. Fortunately, there wasn’t anything too sensitive on there, but they did gain control over it while they were spinning their tale before quoting me for charges. Be cautious, everyone!

It appears that my laptop has been troubled by a pesky virus that specifically targeted Google Chrome, rendering it unresponsive. A rather dubious notification popped up, directing me to ring 0238050592 to speak with a Microsoft consultant. Something about it felt off, so I took the liberty of verifying the number on my mobile’s Google Chrome, only to discover it was indeed a shady line. After a few frustrating attempts to restart my laptop, I found that the same freezing issue persisted every time I opened Google Chrome. I ran my antivirus software multiple times, yet it failed to identify any of the underlying issues. Eventually, I decided to uninstall Google Chrome altogether, and that seems to have rectified the situation.
