I've encountered that pesky pop-up not once, but twice this month! My screen has frozen on me more than I care to admit. Is there any way we can put an end to these irritating nuisances once and for all?

I encountered the identical pop-up as well. Could it possibly be a virus, or is this number legitimate? - caller: 02038050587

I've had a similar experience myself... received a call from an Indian gentleman who claimed that since he wasn’t sitting right next to me, he’d guide me on how he could gain access to my computer to sort out the issue. - from the number: 02038050587

I recently found my computer in a bit of a pickle - it was spouting some nonsense about a virus and insisted I ring 0203 805 0587. My machine froze up solid, so in a moment of weakness, I called the number, despite my instincts screaming at me. I’d heard a whisper or two about some dodgy operators lurking about, and I half-expected to be speaking to an Indian chap. When I dialled up, naturally, the call connected to an Indian gentleman claiming to represent Microsoft. I was extremely sceptical, so I decided to grill him a bit. I pressed him for details about why the number popped up, and he accidentally mentioned that they had a multitude of “customers.” I shot back, asking how he could be so sure I was a potential customer, and I could practically hear his pulse racing. I had attempted to ring them twice before, concealing my number, but it was just dead air on the other end. When I quizzed him on where the company was based, he said America. I followed up, puzzled, as to why they’d be using a London number, and he went silent. I also queried why he was Indian, to which he responded that he was in India. I exclaimed, “So, I’m meant to believe I’m paying for a call to India?” What a strange situation this all turned out to be - curious, really!
