I pressed him for details about why the number popped up, and he accidentally mentioned that they had a multitude of “customers.” I shot back, asking how he could be so sure I was a potential customer, and I could practically hear his pulse racing. I had attempted to ring them twice before, concealing my number, but it was just dead air on the other end. When I quizzed him on where the company was based, he said America. I followed up, puzzled, as to why they’d be using a London number, and he went silent. I also queried why he was Indian, to which he responded that he was in India.
