Got a call from a woman with a strong English accent saying my washing machine warranty was up. I told her I never sort out stuff like that on the phone. She then snapped, “It’s mandatory, so don’t argue with me.” I just ended the call. It felt really aggressive and could scare older folks into sharing their bank info, which is awful. Loads of us complain here, but does anyone actually do anything about these calls? Surely these numbers should be tracked and shut down, but I doubt it’s happening. Anyone got any tips on how to handle this?

Got a recorded message saying there was a dodgy purchase on “my Amazon account” (which I’ve never even used). It mentioned an order for an iPhone 11, cost something like £1049, then told me to press one to confirm or two to chat with the cancellation people. Definitely a scam. Plus, I’m not into iPhones at all. Honestly, sometimes these scams are so obvious it’s laughable how simple it is to spot ‘em.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming our monthly Sky insurance had expired. She tried to get us to renew it right then and there. This bloke rang up saying my SKY equipment insurance had expired. I told him I never even signed up for any cover, but he insisted I was paying £10.99 every month. When I asked for some proof by post, he said they’d already sent it. Then I requested an email instead, but he claimed their email team wasn’t working right now. He was pushing me to sign up for new cover, but I told him there’s no way I’d be paying that without noticing and just hung up. Definitely a dodgy call, pure scam.

Got a call from some guy named “Dexter”, sounded like he was from some ethnic background or something. Said he was with Sky maintenance and offered me a deal to lower my monthly bill. Later on, he tried selling me a 1 or 2 year plan. I told him monthly is all I can manage, no way I can commit to a year upfront. Then he says Sky’s ditching monthly plans cuz of taxes or some excuse. By then, I was well annoyed and tired of the whole thing. I told him I don’t have any maintenance cover and just ended the call.

When I kept pressing to find out who he worked for, he just went silent. Definitely dodgy, I'm planning to report it to Sky this evening.

Had a call from some guy with really bad English, said he was from Sky Services. Tried to get me to renew my Sky kit insurance, said it ended today! Problem is, I never bought any insurance in the first place and Sky don't even have my landline on record. When I told "Dexter" or whoever he was, sounded like he was calling from Mumbai, he pretty much just stopped bothering after that.

I've had my number ex directory and on the TPS for ages yet these calls keep coming. There’s loads of these dodgy calls about recently - really wonder if anything will ever be done to stop them?

Got a call from a woman with an accent about my Sky Protect subscription running out, saying I needed to renew it. When I told her I wasn’t interested since my contract was for 18 months, she got really rude and pushy. I pointed out she hadn’t asked any security questions and didn’t even know who she was talking to. She promised to send me an email within the hour explaining everything. Waiting to see if that email actually comes through. Proper cheeky and aggressive scam attempt if you ask me.

Got a call from someone pretending to be Sky Maintenance. They started all friendly, asking how I was, but I wasn't having any of it and replied, "How's it going, scammer?" They immediately cut me off. Then this 'Line Manager' calls back, demanding to know why I labelled their staff a scammer. I told them the same as I don’t use Sky services. Suddenly, they admitted "WE ARE SCAMMERS" and started swearing (I didn't hold back either!), before hanging up on me. Luckily, they left a landline number, so I’m planning to report them to the authorities.

Sounded like an Asian call centre, and when I asked the bloke to speak proper English 'cos I wasn’t catching what he was saying, he just went and hung up!
