I received a call the other day from someone with a distinctly subcontinental accent who knew my name and introduced himself, yet he was rather evasive about which company he represented or the reason for his call. To be honest, his manner was rather off-putting. I eventually mentioned that my number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, emphasising that I detest unsolicited marketing calls, which could be deemed harassment. He assured me he'd take my details off their list, but I've already had this conversation just two days prior! Quite exasperating, really!
