Twice in just a couple of days, this number has rang my landline claiming they’re conducting a survey for our local council. I find that hard to believe since the first call came at 8.10pm and the other was just before 6pm. I can’t imagine any local council doing work that late in the evening.

So it was Virgin Media ringing me. I told them I’d ended my contract and wasn’t interested. They tried to offer me a better internet package to keep me around, but I’d already signed up with another provider. They only asked for my name and a bit of the memorable word, nothing dodgy. Sounded genuine. Had a quick 1 minute chat with a nice lady and then they said they’d remove me from their calls.

I struggled to find a good deal with Virgin too - it's way too expensive for me as a pensioner. I got a call from Virgin Media yesterday, and they were trying to stop me from going ahead with cancelling. I told them I wasn’t bothered, and while they weren’t too pushy, they really should have offered me something good before I made the decision rather than ringing me after the fact.
