Got a call from someone pretending to be Virgin Media, but they already had my full name, addresses, and even the dates my broadband contract started and finished. I rang Virgin Media straight away, and they told me that the number wasn’t linked to them and that it’s definitely a scam. They said they’d pass the info on to their management because it sounds like there’s been a serious leak of my personal data. Really worrying stuff.

Had pretty much the exact same thing happen to me as others here. I’d only recently sorted a better deal with Virgin, and now I’m getting calls like this, so I reckon these lot know when contracts end. When I asked the lady on the phone (think she sounded Filipino?) for my Virgin account number saying it was for a security check, she just wouldn’t say it. I ended up blocking the number straight away.
