I had the identical call today, someone wanted to talk to me. He claimed my washing machine insurance needed renewing and that there was a big discount. I kept telling him I already had cover, and even mentioned it was paid with my husband’s card - he even asked for my husband’s name, which I gave. The bloke couldn’t say if it was monthly or yearly payments and refused to give a proper address, just a complaints one. Proper muppet, honestly.

Got a call from someone saying they were from DSG about my washing machine cover needing renewal because it had expired. They knew my name and where I lived, but when I asked about the machine’s make and model, they only gave some nonsense model number. They might’ve done some digging, but it’s clearly a con. Got a call from someone asking for my missus by her name, but the moment I asked what it was about, they just ended the call. Here’s a tip: if your phone shows the incoming number and it’s from a 0203 code, don’t bother answering - just hang up. Might teach them to stop wasting our time.

Some bloke rang me up, said he was from DSG over in Brighton, trying to get me to renew the insurance on my washing machine. I told him my partner usually sorts those things but he insisted it was under my name and money would come from my account. When I told him I didn’t have any coverage like that, he just cut me off immediately. Total scam, probably was going to ask for my bank info next. Yeah, no thanks mate!

I got a call from a bloke who actually knew my name right off the bat. He claimed he was sorting out some cover for my washing machine, pretty much like others have said before. When I told him he had it wrong, he didn’t bother arguing and just hung up on me. Seems like a total scam, but he definitely did some digging to learn our family name before ringing.

Got a call about my washing machine insurance dropping from £12 to £8 a month. Thing is, I don’t have any cover on my washing machine at all. The bloke on the phone had a proper cockney accent. Told him he was barking up the wrong tree and he just snapped, hanging up on me. What a muppet!
