I rang back a withheld number and ended up speaking to a guy who said his name was Officer Jack or Jake Hoffman, sounded like he had some kind of weird US-Asian accent. Tried leaving a voicemail but it said his inbox was full, so I couldnt get a message through. Strange experience.

These idiots have rung me nearly every day this week from a new 020 number each time. It's a total scam - HMRC doesn't usually phone you, especially not on your mobile. Normally, they send letters to your last registered address. This kind of racket has got to be ended; I’m sure it’s freaking out loads of people who don’t really know how HMRC operates. They’re probably just leasing these numbers. HMRC should push the phone companies to hand over the details of these crooks and see them put behind bars.

I got a call from this number today, and they said something similar about a warrant out for my arrest over tax evasion. They put me through to a bloke named Tony Williams who said he was a senior officer. He got really rude, telling me not to cut him off because the call was being recorded and would be used in court! Then he said if I paid £3,500 to an address by the end of the day, the case would be dropped! I phoned HMRC straight away to check, and they confirmed there’s no warrant. It’s definitely a SCAM, and I’ve reported it to the fraud squad. Hope they catch these con artists!

This number left me a voicemail claiming I was being sued for tax fraud. When I rang back, they demanded £10,000 immediately. After a bunch of questions, one of them suddenly blurted out, "Welcome to China." I reckon they're from Pakistan or somewhere like that! Scammers rang me two times. I answered the second call and gave them a earful in our local slang, hoping it would hit them where it hurts. We had a bit of a back and forth with some harsh words. Just like others, got a call from a lady with a strong foreign accent, maybe Filipino. The start of the message was missing so I had no idea what she was talking about apart from hearing the words 'Law Suit', which I've never heard HMRC use. Got a missed call earlier today so decided to ring back. Was put through super quick to a lady speaking with a really thick Indian accent, and honestly, it was hard to understand what she was saying. After a while, figured out she wanted my name or some kind of case ID. Instantly got the feeling something was off. Gave her the name Winston Churchill just for a laugh, and she claimed I was being investigated by HMRC. Watch out, it’s a HMRC scam! My voicemail had an automated message threatening to send someone from HMRC to my workplace if I didn’t ring back. I phoned the number (02036379628) and got stuck with a bloke who spoke with an Indian accent but wasn’t very helpful at all. After a while, he put me through to his boss, but both of them were really unpleasant. They spoke to me in a pretty rude and threatening way, warning that if I didn’t sort it out right then, they’d issue a warrant for my arrest. The whole thing was about supposed unpaid taxes and missing tax returns, which was really stressful to hear. I wasn’t able to pick up the phone, but she dropped a voicemail saying I’m under investigation and I have to ring them back asap. I just chose to ignore it.

Got a call from an indian woman talkin about some investigation against me (which is totally made up). It sounded really dodgy and like a pre-recorded message. Pretty clear it's a scam.

Got a call from an Indian woman with a pre-recorded message telling me to get in touch about some trouble I’m in or something, but I didn’t pay much attention since it seemed like a scam right away. Yesterday, a similar number, 02036379398, rang me but I didn’t pick up. I’ve checked here and it turns out that number’s known for scam calls too.

I got a call from an Indian woman saying she was in some kind of trouble and being looked into. Then I had another call about my Virgin Media account asking for my card info. I rang back the number they left and the person said they were a police officer.
