Today, 14th July, around 3.30 in the afternoon, a man calling himself “John” rang me up claiming my computer was being hacked. He said he had the licence info for my machine. He insisted he was from “Microsoft” and recited some long string of numbers and letters as proof. After hearing his rehearsed spiel for a bit, I told him straight away it sounded like a scam. His reaction was quite rude, swearing loudly down the phone. From his accent, I'd say he was from the Far East.
