I picked up the phone, only to find myself conversing with a mechanical voice, rather than a genuine person. The message it conveyed was alarming-it claimed my national insurance number had been misappropriated at the border in Wales. Without hesitation, I decided to block the number!

twice today ive got calls from numbers that only differ in the last digit. pretty sure its a scam so ive just gone ahead and blocked them.

I got a call from 077860096043 and when I picked up, the voicemail started by saying I couldn’t use my insurance number because there was a fraud claim against me. It asked to press 1 to talk to someone about it, so I pressed 1. A guy with an Asian accent then came on the line and asked for my number. I told him no because if they were really making a fraud case, they’d already have it. After that, he just ended the call.

I usually ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers, if it’s important they can drop me a voicemail. Since no message was left, I’m pretty sure it’s just a spam call, so I’ve blocked the number straight away.
