STEER CLEAR - EXTREMELY UNTRUSTWORTHY FIRM. So here's the deal with their recruitment process: I received a call that barely rang once. Naturally, I returned the call to find out who it was. The individual on the other end asked, “Is that you, XXX (my name)?”, then claimed it was regarding an application I’d submitted. I politely inquired her name, but she wouldn’t divulge it. When I pressed for the job title and the name of the company, she promptly hung up on me. Honestly, if you’re mature enough to ask questions, they’ll try to dodge you. They seem to prefer candidates who sit back, nod, and get swept up in their pitch, eager to come for an in-person or group interview. After doing some digging, I discovered this is AJG Direct. So, what’s their deal? Most of their positions involve door-to-door sales or street canvassing. It’s a commission-based role, and oddly enough, they don’t even disclose that during the initial interview!

AJG is certainly not the type of firm that offers conventional roles akin to management or admin jobs. They operate on a model that is entirely commission-driven, with no established salaries, meaning there’s no clear path for progression within the company. During my interview, I couldn’t help but inquire about the nature of their business, specifically if it resembled a pyramid scheme, to which they vehemently rejected the label, going on to assert that advancement and managerial positions would surely be forthcoming in the future. To put it plainly, the job essentially involves convincing people to commit to monthly charitable donations. The company profits from the volume of sales you generate, and you receive a tiny cut in return for your efforts. Just to clarify, the positions advertised by AJG on Indeed or similar platforms may not accurately reflect what is actually on offer, or worse, they might not even exist at all! What you’re really signing up for is a street sales role, where you’ll need to engage passers-by. What’s more, the company is all about grandiose statements and an inspiring vision that supposedly leads to success; however, the reality is far removed from that lofty narrative. If you're in the age bracket of 18 to 22, there's a chance you might find the role somewhat appealing, as many young individuals tend to be involved, creating a vibrant and upbeat environment. However, for anyone over 22 who is seeking a genuine career, this could very well turn out to be a futile pursuit. By the way, I was offered a street sales position myself, with the assurance that I possessed all the qualities they were after, but honestly, how can one forge a real career in a multi-level marketing setup that lacks assurances or opportunities for advancement?
