Got a call from a number at about 3:23pm. The guy said he found my number in his phone history and had looked me up on social media. Then he mentioned something about his "girlfriend" telling me to stop, which confused me. I replied, "Wait, you want me to stop my photography? That's pretty cheeky of you, mate!" and then he just hung up. These calls are just nasty and freak people out. They seriously need to quit it.

Got a call this mornin’ and when I picked up, an automated voice started saying it was urgent and that HMRC were trying to reach me ‘cause of a lawsuit. They told me to press 1 or 3. I just hung up. Tried callin’ back the number and it said it couldn’t connect. Spoke to HMRC myself and they said they only contact people by letter, never by phone. Total scam, pure nonsense. Big thanks to this site for letting us check these numbers and share what’s goin’ on - that message really made me worried at first.

This number called my dad earlier today and shook him up quite a bit. A woman on the line was threatening legal action against him! He’s 84 for goodness’ sake! I’m absolutely livid. I tried ringing back but all I got was a message saying the number isn’t available. Shame, I really wanted a word with them. These sorts of people should be put to an end. Proper scumbags!

Got a call on the evening of June 1st, about 6pm. The caller claimed to be from HMRC and said they sent me a legal notice ages ago, which I hadn’t responded to. They threatened to send someone round to take me to court. I told them HMRC had never called me in all my 50 years, and I’d have to check with them myself. Despite that, she kept talking fast and insisted I owed money. Noticed her accent sounded Indian, so I asked if she was from India. She flat out denied it, which was odd. She gave her name as Mary Jones, which seemed dodgy since most callers don’t share their full names. I cut her off and checked the number with 1471. It showed up as 020 3488 2506. A mate suggested Googling the number, and sure enough, it was reported loads as a scam. Then I called HMRC on 0300 200 3300 - they advised me to report this kind of rubbish to the police on 0300 123 2040.

Had the same thing happen to me, but I’m currently dealing with HMRC about some back taxes, so at first I fell for it and pressed option one. Weirdly, they already had my address and postcode (no idea how). I ended up being daft and gave them my date of birth before I realised it was dodgy and hung up. Just got a call from this number. I pressed 1 and a woman answered saying, "Hello, how can I assist you?" I told her she just called me, but she insisted I had called her first. I said no, you rang me and I pressed 1. Then she asked if I was Mrs XXXX, and I said no, you've reached HMRC's FRAUD team, and she hung up. Received a call from this number earlier. My partner answered and was talking to someone who spoke with an Indian accent. They claimed to be from HMRC, strangely already knowing his details like his national insurance number. The caller said there was a warrant for his arrest and that he owed nearly £2,000. just got a couple of texts from these numbers on my phone, bit of a shock at first but since I’ve had other dodgy calls from 0203 numbers before, I wasn’t too bothered.

Same here: got a recorded message saying something about HMRC that sounded urgent and freaked me out a bit. Seems like a scam to me but it really made my heart race. I can imagine it’d really upset older folks or anyone who’s already a bit anxious.

02034882506 called saying something about a lawsuit or sumthin against us. Hard to catch the rest, sounded all garbled. I reckon best not to pick up calls from unknown numbers, I just let it go to our answer machine. If more folks did that it might save a lot of hassle.

23/05/17. Got a call supposedly from HMRC saying I owed tax and wanted to visit today to sort out a payment of £1982. It really frightened me and I’m still shaken up. Thankfully, I called the number back and saw it wasn’t legit, then I checked online and found these reviews. Proper relief. They really need to sort this out.

Got a recorded message claiming it was from HMRC, saying a case was being opened against me by my case officer. It told me to 'press 1' to proceed. I didn’t push anything and plan to report this to HMRC myself.

Just got a call from this number around 9.20 this morning, it was one of those recorded messages about a HMRC lawsuit or something. Reckoned it was a scam straight away and ended the call. Really worrying how this might scare people who aren’t so careful.

Got a ring from this number earlier. Personally, I treat all calls from numbers I don’t know - apart from relatives and mates - as dodgy and try not to engage. What works for us is answering with a quick "hello" then staying quiet. They often repeat "hello" a couple of times before just hanging up. It’s mind boggling how these calls keep coming, sometimes up to ten times daily, even on Sundays! Thinking of switching our number, but I bet they’ll track us down anyway.

So, this number called me and I picked up straight away. Right away, I told them I knew it was a scam, but they seemed to have a lot of details about me. The first guy claimed his name was Peter Wilson, but he spoke with a thick Indian accent - hard to catch what he was saying. He went on about some warrant out for my arrest and even threw in a crime number! Then another person came on, called himself Ralph Bucknell, with an even heavier Indian accent. He warned my bank assets would be frozen in 10 minutes unless I paid nearly two grand right away. I told them again it was a scam and they just cut the call off. Weird experience!

02034882506 called my brother, claiming they were on his doorstep and threatening court action. He hadn’t done anything wrong, just told me about the call. I phoned HMRC straight away, thinking it was a scam, and it definitely was. HMRC never make calls like that - they only send letters through the post.

Today, this number called me and left a voicemail about some kind of lawsuit. I rang HM, and they told me it's just a scam.

I got a call from this number earlier today. When I got in touch with HMRC, they confirmed it was a scam and advised me to just block and ignore any more calls coming from them. They already had my address and postcode and tried to get my national insurance number. I wasn’t having any of it and told them off pretty firmly in a way they could understand. I’ve also received plenty of calls lately, so I asked who they were working for and their company details. I warned them I’d reported them to the police for harassment and unwanted calls. Thankfully, I haven’t gotten any calls from them since.

On the morning of 11th May 2017, just after 9.30, this number left a robotic message. A clear female voice claimed something about a lawsuit being taken out against me and urged me to press 1 for details. We didn't respond. It’s really upsetting because my 79-year-old husband suffers from paranoia due to a severe illness, and now he believes he’s in deep trouble and might be sent to jail. He’s even gone as far as packing a bag, worried he'll be taken away suddenly. The last thing he needs is this sort of scary scam call. I really wish there was a better way to stop these calls from reaching vulnerable people like him.

Got a call from this number around 3.15pm yesterday. They left a voicemail claiming HMRC has taken legal action against me and said I need to get in touch with a solicitor straight away. I was pretty sure it was a scam since HMRC wouldn't handle things like that by phone. The voice was a woman’s but sounded American and quite robotic, like a recorded message. Just ignored it.

Just as I was about to have my tea at around 6pm on the 19th of May 2017, I got a call with a recorded message from someone claiming to be HMRC saying there was an injunction against me. It was a woman’s voice. It really made me anxious for a bit, but luckily I just ended the call and didn’t respond. Quite a worrying experience.

This morning I got a robo call saying HMRC was gonna take legal action, with a "press 1" prompt. I just put the phone down. Had to nip out for work, and when I got back my missus was really shaken up 'cause some upset woman was on the line demanding money. My wife’s quite sensitive, luckily she ended the call straight away since we’ve told her to do that with any random sales calls, or if it sounds real, ask them to contact me instead. This is definitely a big scam. I’ve already reported the number 03001232040 to www.actionfraud.police.uk. They told me to just ignore any more calls from them and to let them know if they ring back. Better to be safe and not pick up if they call again.

Had the exact same thing happen to me. Got passed on to a guy with an Indian accent who was pretty rude, telling me there was a warrant for my arrest! I asked him for his name and a number, which he gave me, then I just ended the call. Could be really scary for someone who’s more vulnerable.

Just got a call from these lot claiming to be from HMRC saying there's a warrant for my arrest over unpaid taxes (which I ain't even paying). They asked for my name but already had my address, then wanted my national insurance number. I refused to give it. I asked them to send someone who speaks proper English because the bloke on the phone sounded Indian and I couldn’t follow properly. They just hung up straight away. Definitely a scam.
