10 years"Jake McCartney," speaking in a rather strong Asian accent, just tried pulling a fast one on us. We were already on our laptop, so we decided to look up MSIT specialists and stumbled across a few tales about scams and dodgy characters. So, we told her that’s precisely what we were reading about. She kept going on, though, and we made it crystal clear we'd be reaching out to Microsoft ourselves. Once we verified who these people were, I would give them a ring, not the other way around. Then, lo and behold, she handed us this number! The audacity!Jake McCartneyMSITMicrosoft10 yearsA woman mentioned that these individuals were presenting error messages concerning our computer, claiming to represent Windows in order to resolve the problem. Interestingly, he seemed unsure about which version of Windows we were using, despite us thinking it would have been evident from the error message itself, don't you think?11 yearsWe received a call from the same number and the story was eerily similar. When we mentioned our preference for consulting our own computer technician if any problems arose, the gent on the other end - who we suspect might be Indian due to his heavy accent - insisted that our technician wouldn't be able to resolve the issue. We then explained that we weren't in a position to access our computer at that moment, and he promptly asked when it would be convenient for us. This just struck us as very dodgy, so I decided to hang up. It all felt rather off, to say the least.11 yearsJust to keep you all in the loop, I received a full refund from PayPal. Meanwhile, the computer technician discovered some pesky Trojan viruses but it seems they've managed to sort everything out.PayPal11 yearsWe recently received a call from MSitexpert and were initially intrigued. However, our perspective shifted when we spotted the Remote Access alert. You see, my sibling and his partner operate a business called Nazreel Computer Services (just a wee shout-out there!), and they've always advised us to be extremely cautious about granting remote access. They stress the importance of verifying the identity and credentials of anyone requesting such access. It's astonishing how convincingly these scammers can present themselves as legitimate companies! Honestly, one has to wonder - has Microsoft ever outsourced contracts to anyone who could easily earn their keep independently? It’s quite a puzzle!MSitexpertNazreel Computer ServicesMicrosoft12 yearsMy elderly father, who is 88, also received a similar phone call and was duped into handing over £249 back in December. Just last month, they made another attempt asking for the same amount. I made sure to cancel his card right away. When we called the number they had given him, they refused to disclose the name of the company. Now, whenever we try to ring back, it goes straight to voicemail, so I suspect they might have blocked our number. It’s an absolute sham!12 yearsI had a rather similar encounter myself, but here’s the twist: the chap who relayed this to me mentioned that she was employed by MSI, who in turn had been brought on board by Microsoft to assist with issues related to Windows.MSIMicrosoft12 yearsThis number called our grandmother and somehow accessed her computer, then tried to bluff her into coughing up her bank details by using some sort of pager. They claimed that their service was complimentary and had somehow linked her number to Microsoft. We're quite anxious about this whole ordeal. They were pushing her about whether she'd used PayPal or online banking, and once she said no, they really pressed her for payment. We desperately need assistance!MicrosoftPayPalSubmit Your Own Report (020 3468 2669)
