I’ve looked them up and chatted with them several times, and everything checks out as genuine. It seems Capital Holiday Group might just be acting as an intermediary and passing you on to someone else, so I didn’t feel too concerned. Just got a call claiming I might be owed compensation for an all inclusive holiday I supposedly took in the past 3 years. They don’t actually have your full info, just your name, phone number, and postcode. Honestly, no idea how they got that, but it’s all they possess. If they ask for more details and you question them, they’ll claim customer service already has everything and they’re just double-checking with you - which is a total load of rubbish. They literally have nothing until you hand it over. Sometimes they’ll say you’ll get £1400 for an accident or £500 for holiday issues (something about being ATOL protected and complaints about the food and cleanliness), but that’s just made-up nonsense. There’s no one else involved, just a bunch of lies.

Got a call about ATOL compensation. They claimed to be based in Brighton but were ringing from a London area code. When I asked to speak to the company’s official trading number, they transferred me to a ‘manager’ who barely spoke English. They insisted I went on holiday to Majorca in July 2015, but the strange thing is I only went there once back in 1996. When I pressed again for the number, they just hung up. He asked how many times I’d been called, and I told him it was the fourth time, funny enough while I was actually on holiday. He said he’d get me taken off the list right away.
