Got a call from a woman speaking with a really thick European accent saying she was ringing from the UK Insurers Group (UKI). When I asked for more info about her company, she just cut the call. Tried ringing back the number, but it was just dead. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

So, apparently, I've been flagged for speeding-apparently doing 51 in a 50 mph zone. They actually had the cheek to ask how I wanted to settle up! When I asked them for proof that I was indeed speeding, they had nothing to back it up and just blustered. I figured it reeked of a scam; if they really had caught me, I’m sure I’d receive an official notice in the post, don’t you reckon?

Someone called claiming to be from the AA, saying they were looking into a car accident I had in the past couple of years. When I asked where they found that info, they said from the AIS. What a load of rubbish! Told them they must be wrong and then they just ended the call. This kind of thing is exactly why car insurance costs an arm and a leg, scammers!

Someone rang me saying they were from AA claims assistance, asking about a crash I supposedly had in the last three years. When I asked how they’d got my info, they put me on to a ‘supervisor’ who said they couldn’t say because of data protection rules. It was so dodgy, I found it quite amusing messing with them for a bit before I said I don’t even own a car. They got a bit rude, asking why I hadn’t said so earlier, and I told them that being the AA, they should already have known that. Then they just hung up.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be with the AA. They asked me to verify that they were from the Automobile Association, which offers roadside assistance services, and she indeed confirmed this. The conversation took a turn as they started mentioning accidents we’ve been involved in, discussing payments for car repairs, but peculiarly, they weren’t addressing my injuries at all. It quickly became clear that this was a scam call.

So after the election, some anti-LGBT activist gave my phone number to these scammers, and obviously I can't take legal action 'cause there's not enough proof. The people ringing up are a scam group trying to get personal info from folks who supposedly had accidents, then they sell that info onto marketing firms. My usual reply is just to say, "hello" and when they go on about money from accidents, I just say, "my name's Buddy the Elf, what’s your favourite colour?" or something like that. Basically, I just refuse to share any real details.

Got a call from someone asking for my missus but with a name that wasn't quite right. I told this foreign lady no one here went by that name and asked what it was regarding. She said she was calling from aa assist about a recent crash. I told her no one’s been in an accident and then hung up.
