I was taken aback when I received a voicemail - albeit one of those automated ones. Apparently, I’m now embroiled in a legal case and there’s a warrant for my arrest from HMRC! I fully grasp it’s all a ruse, yet it’s rather disconcerting to receive such calls. What if someone more vulnerable falls for it? Moreover, when you attempt to engage with one of these characters, they seem utterly clueless - what’s even the point of that? Do they actually profit from interacting with these dodgy individuals? It’s baffling that these calls persist. Is there really no way for anyone to put an end to this nonsense? I sincerely hope something can be done!

Received a couple of calls earlier today claiming that I’m being pursued legally by HM Revenue and Customs. They provided an option to press 1 or 2 for further information, which I smartly chose to ignore. I can’t help but worry about those who might take the bait and actually respond. I got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be from HMRC, saying there was some arrest warrant out for me over unpaid tax. He asked for my name and tried fishing for my dob, first guessing a year younger than I actually am. I gave him a fake date in the end, which he seemed to jot down. Total scam, no doubt. I was gonna try keeping him on the phone longer, but got irritated and ended up dropping some rude words (called him a wg or a n####r), then he just slammed the phone down.
