Tried ringing them today but no luck. Called again and got a message saying they don’t take calls from private numbers. Then just ended with goodbye. Sounds like a scam to me.

How long are these scams gonna go on before someone actually catches these muppets and gives them what they deserve? Just today I got another bogus arrest warrant from ‘HMRC’ - yeah right, not happening! I’d like to see them try knocking on my door! Absolute fools picking on old and weak people - they should be proper ashamed of themselves. Total rubbish!

Another scam from HMRC fraudsters, mostly from India, who are skilled at frightening you and tricking you into handing over money during calls. Watch out, these people can really mess up your life. There’s no warrant out for you! TOTAL RIPOFF!!!

I've received a rather alarming call claiming that 'HMRC is initiating legal action' and prompted to 'Press 1 to converse with my advisor'…

This isn't the first time, mind you; we often find ourselves inundated with these calls-sometimes even multiple times a day! What possesses individuals to partake in such faff? Don’t they have anything more worthwhile to occupy their time? I simply ended the call, but I did do a 1471 to note down the number that rang us.

Honestly, HMRC never phone folks out of the blue, they always send a letter first if there’s any issue with payments or debts. I’m at Citizens Advice and can confirm, if you get a call claiming to be from HMRC and no letter has come through before, it’s likely a scam. They only call if you’ve set up a callback with them first. So don’t trust any random calls!

This number has phoned me a few times now. The last time, the caller said they were from HMRC and that I owed taxes that needed sorting straight away. They kept saying I had to pay up quickly to avoid going to court or I'd end up paying like £48k! Honestly, it was pretty terrifying.

Got a call from a robotic female voice claiming to be from HMRC, saying they were building a case against me or something. Didn’t even ask who I was, just said I had to talk to my case officer. That’s not how HMRC works at all. Total scam call, and pretty unpleasant. I just blocked the number straight away.
