I've received calls from this number three times over the last week, even though I’m signed up with the Telephone Preference Service. Thankfully, I've got Caller ID; if the number isn't familiar, I simply let it ring. It's odd that they never bother leaving a message - you'd think a legitimate caller would make the effort. It’s quite unnerving to have these persistent calls from unknown numbers at strange hours, especially since I live by myself.

Looks like this number is linked to some American firm named DTS. After seeing Jim Browning’s vids, I’m pretty sure it’s just some dodgy scam.

I’m pretty sure RNIB dont have an office where the call came from, and my phone tagged it straight away as a scam. Lucky I didnt pick up! Thanks for sharing what you know about it. If this number calls you, best to just ignore it.

This aint dangerous, its a charity helping blind people. My daughter is blind and I’m involved with them, even raising funds. So the woman who put in a fiver then moaned, seriously, get a grip.

Got a text asking for my thoughts on a "pool opinion" with a weird message like "how happy were you with your chat? [#]kst mr/xxc." I just ignored it coz when random numbers send stuff like that, it feels kinda dodgy.

some woman from ‘the rib’ called and went on about helping blind kids and what the mnib do. she asked if i wanted to donate over the phone but i said no thanks, not comfortable with that. she said don’t worry, it’s just a touch phone system! i then asked if she could send me raffle tickets like they always do, but she claimed her computer screen had ‘gone down’ and she couldn’t see my details. sounds like a scam to me, though she was pretty convincing, especially since i normally support the rnib.

This call is actually genuine and comes from the nib. They only ring people who’ve already given them their info. So, if this number calls you, you’ve probably shared your details with the mib before. They’re just selling raffle tickets like usual and let you buy them securely over the phone, which helps them save some cash. If you’re not comfortable buying over the phone, they’re happy to post the tickets out to you instead. Charities are having a hard time right now, so it’s important to keep supporting them however you can.
