02033896761 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02033896761 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving automated calls falsely claiming to be from HMRC, threatening arrest warrants for unpaid taxes or legal action. Callers often urge recipients to press a number to speak with a “case officer,” then attempt to gather personal information before abruptly ending the call. The tactic frequently causes distress, especially among older individuals, with some scammers pressuring victims to buy vouchers. The true HMRC does not initiate such contact by phone. Recipients are advised not to respond, block the numbers, and report incidents to official authorities. Phone providers may have limited ability to block these calls, so vigilance and verification by searching known scam databases are recommended to avoid falling victim.

Got a call from this same number today, just like some others have said. The automated voice said press one to speak with an agent or face prosecution. I pressed one and gave them my name, but then they just ended the call. I’ve reported it to HMRC, fingers crossed they can check if it’s legit or not.

Got a call again from someone pretending to be HMRC, saying I've got an arrest warrant. They asked me to press 1 for more info. Such a scam!

Got a call from someone saying they’re from HMRC and warning me that if I don’t ring back the Case Officer, I’ll get arrested. Definitely sounds like a scam to me!

Got a voicemail from HMRC telling me to hit 1 to talk to some officer about an arrest warrant. Sounded fishy to me!

I’ve gotten this text a few times now, like three or more, and it’s honestly really annoying. It’s starting to get on my nerves.

Got a call supposedly from HMRC again saying I had an arrest warrant out! Tried blocking the number they called from before but now this one popped up: +1 415 800 4791, which others have mentioned too. They left a message on my voicemail with a robotic voice telling me to press 1 to talk to a caseworker. Total scam if you ask me.

Got called by 02033896761 a couple of times yesterday and again a pair of times just minutes apart today. They left some message about an arrest warrant from HMRC. Not falling for it, just blocking and passing it on to HMRC.

Today an elderly gentleman tried buying £1000 in Amazon vouchers at Asda because “HMRC” supposedly told him if he didn’t, he’d be arrested and kicked out of the country! Thankfully, we spotted what was happening and warned him about the scam. He was absolutely terrified. Seriously, stay clear of this one!

They said they were calling from HMRC, but I told them straight up that the tax office doesn’t ring people like that.

I got several calls today, 4 times actually, from these numbers 02033896761, 014158004791, and 01242180032. They kept saying something about HMRC and a warrant against me. I just hung up without paying attention to the rest.

Got two calls today from a recorded message supposedly from HMRC, just like some others mentioned here. I had to block the number after the second ring. Then, not long after, I got the same automated message from 0014158004791. Pretty annoying!

Got two calls today, one left a voicemail and on the other I answered. Heard an automated message saying HMRC was putting out an arrest alert for me and to press ‘1’ to talk to my caseworker. Really unsettling stuff. I checked online and found loads about HMRC phone scams, so it’s definitely a fraud. I’ve reported it to the phishing email they provide. Reading here, it looks like they can track the caller's location - so why isn’t anyone catching these dodgy callers?

Got a call from 02033896761 on my home phone. Luckily, we’ve got a filter setup where the caller has to say their name, everything’s recorded, and we have to agree before the call connects. That usually blocks spam like this. Still, I rang 1471 to check the last caller and then looked it up online, which led me here. Glad others have shared their experiences with this number - it probably saved me from wasting time calling it back. Much appreciated!

This number 02033 896761 called my wife three times today and she got really scared and upset about it. I decided to look up the number on Google and discovered it’s actually a scam. If you get calls like this, don’t do what they tell you unless you’re absolutely certain. Best thing is to always check the number online first.

Got a call from 02033896761 around 10:15 this morning. I hit 1, then some bloke with a foreign accent asked me for my name. I didn’t say it, asked him who he was and where his office was, and then he just ended the call. Pretty clear it was a scam to me.

Today by 4pm I got three calls from the same number, answered twice but all I got was recorded messages, so I just hung up. The other time, there was a voicemail with that HMRC warning about pressing 1 to speak to your case officer urgently. Sounds like a total scam to me, I don't have any case officer. Virgin was terrible too - took me 27 mins to get through to customer service to try and report and block the number 0203 389 6761, but they said they couldn’t block it. No real help - just told me to hang up and nothing was done. Really frustrating.

I just got a really creepy voicemail from 02033896761. The message said it was from HMRC and that I’d not paid my income tax, and that the court had now sent a warrant against me. It felt quite threatening and kept urging me to call back right away. Honestly, don’t bother ringing them back if you get a call from this number - it’s very off-putting and aggressive.

Received a robotic voice saying it was some official message from HMRE, claiming HMRC had filed a court order and even an arrest warrant for us. They told me to press 1 to talk to the case officer handling it. Sounded dodgy to me.

Got a really slow, deep voice on the answering machine claiming it was HMRC and warning me about an upcoming lawsuit. They said to press one to avoid legal trouble. I just hung up straight away. Later, I used 1471 to get the caller’s number. It seemed pretty dodgy because the message kicked in right away without even trying to speak to someone. Plus, there’s just two pensioners in their seventies living here!

This was back on 14 Jan 2020, got a call that was definitely a HMRC scam. They were just fishing through the local phone book! I'd say steer clear of it. BT ought to just cut off that number altogether.
