If you really want to put an end to these scam calls, every one of them should be reported to Action Fraud. Just search for 'Action Fraud' on Google, pick the site that ends with 'police.uk', then head to the 'report' part and file it as a phishing scam. You don’t even need to sign up for anything. The main reason these scams keep coming through is because hardly anyone bothers to report them. Because of that, the police have no real clue about how bad or what kind of scams are going around. Without proper info, they can't take any meaningful action.

You should definitely tell the police about these scams! Just search 'action fraud' on google, then hit the 'police.uk' website and find the page for 'reporting'. It’s pretty straightforward and you don’t need to sign up or anything. Reporting these phishing calls is really important because if they don’t get logged, the police won’t know how bad these scams really are. So make sure every scam call goes on there!

This morning I got a call with a recorded bloke’s voice claiming HMRC had put out an arrest warrant for me and to hit 1 to talk to their advisor because they couldn’t reach me. I just hung up straight away. Had something like this about a year back too and I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. How do these scammers manage to find numbers that aren’t even listed?

Got a recorded call from some supposed HMRC warning me about an arrest warrant, which is daft since they never said a name and loads of people live in my building. I didn’t pick up because the number wasn’t in my contacts, but after seeing the missed call, I checked this site and listened to my voicemail. There were two messages from this morning, both warning about an arrest warrant, like what others have mentioned. From now on, I just ignore unknown numbers and look them up here first. Got two calls just 10 minutes apart but missed both before the voicemail picked up. Left a message that was hard to understand except for bits about HMRC and some arrest warrant. When the second call came through, I actually answered and a bloke claimed he was ringing from HMRC about a warrant for my arrest because of unpaid taxes. He was talking really quickly, so I asked him to slow down and say it again. Then he asked for my name, I told him just my first name. Next thing he says I’m getting arrested and then he just hangs up on me.

This morning at about 10:15, my elderly mum in Llantwit Major, Vale of Glamorgan, got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, saying there was a warrant for her arrest over unpaid taxes. She was absolutely shaken up by it. It worries me a lot, especially thinking about someone vulnerable, like a young person with Autism, hearing that and genuinely believing it. They could be so frightened they might harm themselves after a call like that. I really think there needs to be a public warning on TV about these scams because these cruel scammers must be put an end to immediately!
