Sounds like a typical O2 scam to me, but I was a bit bored so I played along. Some folks with heavy Asian accents telling me that because of the O2 and Virgin merger (honestly, no clue why that’s happening), my O2 SIM will stop working next week. First I’ve heard of it. They claimed I’d keep all my details and even get 30% off for a year. Then they tried to pass me over to someone else to finalise things. That’s when I ended the call. They rang me back right away, but I’ve blocked the number. Could be risky for anyone who falls for it.

Not long ago I left a comment about a postcode i looked up, and it turned out to be SE1 4DX, not SO1 4DX like i first thought. The lady on the line spoke with a really strong Asian accent, so it was a bit tricky to catch everything she said.

I stood my ground and they finally ended the call. At first, a woman called me, then she passed me to someone in ‘technical’ to handle the sim stuff. Sounded legit but quite dodgy.

A right scam, this caller claimed to be from Virgin Media and said because of the O2 takeover I needed a new SIM or they'd block my number. I kept telling them I didn’t want a new SIM, but they kept insisting my phone would be cut off otherwise. I told them to just send it then, without giving any details. Suddenly they said I had to activate the SIM straight away. That’s when I realised it was a scam and told them I’d activate it when I actually got it! They had no comeback after that, proper funny.

This bloke rang me, said his name was Kevin (definitely wasn’t), claiming to be from O2. I told him I wasn’t with O2, then he switched to Virgin Media. I told him again, no, you’ve got the wrong person. Then he asked who my provider is, I just said nope, not gonna say. He kept pushing, asking why not, and I replied it’s none of your business. Then he tried to tempt me with some discount, I told him if I’m eligible, they’ll sort it out, and I ended the call.

Just got a call from someone claiming to be O2... said they wanted to send me a new SIM with updated info and that my current SIM would be blocked otherwise. Asked for my email to verify I’m the account holder... I told her she called the number linked to the account which I answered, so no way I’m giving out my email. She insisted she needed it to send the details and said it wasn’t a scam. Sure, love... I got a bit annoyed when I refused and said she should just send the info they already have on file. Some young bloke rang me from this number, and I asked, ‘Are you with Gamma Telecom?’ He replied he was from O2. Then, no joke, he said, ‘Yes, I am a scammer yeah.’ (Looks like he misheard Gamma as Scammer). After that, he quietly muttered something rude into his headset. I just said cheers mate! He then went on with ‘I’m your dad.’ I told him I’ve always wanted to meet him. Proper weird stuff. Probably just a load of teens working there who will be out of a job soon. You can’t even text them back, which is a dead giveaway it’s a scam. Plus, their English is awful - no way these are genuine 02 employees.

They rang me twice about 4 days back and when I didn’t pick up, they called me another 3 times today.

I’m employed at O2 and received a call on my work mobile from this number, claiming they were upgrading the network and I needed a new SIM card. They stated that I’d be offered a 40% discount and that my current number would remain unchanged. Please, I urge everyone to ignore this caller; they are not legitimate representatives of O2. Never divulge any personal information to them, and refrain from sharing any verification codes you might receive via text or email. Stay vigilant!

Somebody said they were calling from O2, saying I could get 40% off something. I asked who exactly they were trying to reach, but they said they couldn’t tell me any personal info, even though they had it on the screen. I kept asking for my name, but they just gave in and stopped. Definitely not a real O2 call!

The call began with them claiming customers have been experiencing issues with O2 and that new SIM cards would be sent out. I told them straight away I don't use a physical SIM, only an eSIM. Then they put me through to another person. This new agent asked if I had the O2 app or if I logged in via a browser. When I said yes, they proceeded to ask for my email. That’s when I ended the call, as it felt fishy. If I’d given my email, they might have sent some dodgy link to steal my login details or track me somehow (just my suspicion). Watch out!

Someone claiming to be from O2 called to check if I was satisfied with their service. But when I asked who they wanted to speak to, basically asking for my name, there was a pause and then they just hung up. I get this call every few weeks from different numbers, all looking like they’re from London, and the same thing happens when I ask them for my name. I’ve even mentioned the TPS and told them these cold calls aren’t allowed, asking them to remove my number from their list. Doesn’t seem to have any effect at all!

so annoying, they called for like 2 and a half minutes (156 seconds, crazy right?) but i didn’t even answer lol. i never pick up calls from numbers i dont recognise, they can text or email if it’s important, otherwise no thanks. once they stopped calling, i went ahead and blocked the number, haha!

Received three calls on 02/06/24. The caller claimed to be from Virgin, warning me that my phone would be restricted in a week’s time. I ended the call but decided to ring back an hour later.

I got a call saying they were from Three with a better offer for me. Then they emailed me, but the address was a bit dodgy - something like 3shops.co.uk, which didn’t feel right at all. After that, they tried to get my card info. Definitely sounded off.

Just like everyone else, I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was ringing from O2. Ever since Virgin Media and O2 joined up with their new deals, these dodgy phone calls have really shot up.
