Just got a call on the home phone from a courteous young guy. He said our address popped up on some list for having old loft insulation, claiming it was the yellow stuff. Problem is, we live in a flat-roofed place, so no loft at all! When I told him that, he was really polite, said sorry for bothering me, and ended the call. Sounds like the common loft insulation scam to me - funny how they keep calling even when there’s clearly no loft here!

This bloke's rang me half a dozen times now, each call from a number that barely varies. A few times he goes on about my loft insulation being old, and twice he asked if I’m over fifty to offer some kind of health check. Once I asked for his name and who he’s calling for, and he just hung up. I blocked the number but didn't help much - he just phones back with a number that's only one digit off. Feels like some kind of scam to me, honestly.

I picked up this call and it seemed to be one of those automated systems making loads of calls. The message was about “Loft Insulation” connected to some case of mine. If you stay silent when answering, the call just ends, same if you say hello like usual. Seems like they want you to ring back to get you stuck with costs or something? Best not to bother calling them back. These scammers must have purchased a load of number bundles to pull off these scams. I’ve already reported it to BT.

They called me about loft insulation with a great deal, real eager to get me on board. Then out of nowhere they asked how old I was! Like, why would that even matter? They specifically wanted to know if I was over 80! Strange, right?

Got a call saying I qualified for a no-cost loft insulation check, then they asked how old I was. The options were 50-60, 60-70, or 70-80. I told them I’m only 41, so none of those apply. The person just went, “Alright, thanks, have a good day.” I decided to push back and asked if that means I don’t qualify just because I’m not in those age groups (not that I usually fall for these scams, but I wanted to see what they'd say). They replied no. Seems like they’re specifically after older folks, probably hoping to catch someone more vulnerable. Proper muppets!
