Got a call from someone claiming I had insurance for my household appliances. When I asked a few questions, the woman on the phone couldn’t even tell me what appliances supposedly were covered. Instead of answering, she started yelling some policy number at me and was really rude, talking over me when I just wanted some clear info. Needless to say, I blocked the number straight away.

Someone rang me claiming to be from Domestic & General, already had my name and address which made it sound legit. They kept talking over me about some deal where I’d get 3 years for the price of 2 and wanted £195 upfront. I just hung up and later called Domestic & General myself to let them know about the scammer pretending to be them.

Some woman called me claiming I’d been in an accident. I played along and told her my head got severed but thankfully, the hospital managed to reattach it. She went quiet for a bit, then asked how long I’d spent in hospital! I couldn’t help but chuckle and quickly told her sorry but her story was so daft it was making me laugh out loud, just like the nonsense she was spouting. Then I hung up and blocked the number straight away!

I received a call earlier from someone with a non-English accent claiming to be from my home appliance insurance company. They were offering some sort of discount for a single payment on my appliances, but then they bizarrely asked me for my bank details, specifically my sort code and account number. Naturally, I wasn’t about to share that information, so I ended the call. I later reached out to my actual insurers, and they assured me it wasn’t anyone from their team-definitely a scam! To make matters worse, the same chap tried ringing me again about three hours later. I just ignored it. These persistent nuisances really ought to be caught by the authorities... consider yourselves warned!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent telling me my home appliance warranty was about to run out. She asked if I’d had an engineer visit in the last year, which was a strange question since I don’t even have a warranty in the first place! She claimed if I hadn’t, I could get a half-price deal, making the monthly payment £19.99. I found it odd because just recently, I replaced an old appliance she got in 2009 under her insurance. Plus, my mum passed away back in 2016, so no way she bought anything in 2018! I received a rather pushy phone call claiming to be regarding some sort of insurance for my appliances, which is rather odd since I don’t even have such a policy. The chap on the other end, who identified himself as Stanley Adams, was rather overbearing, insisting that I check my bank statements as I've allegedly been paying for this since May 2014. He mentioned a hefty fee of £300 for a two-year cover that supposedly includes my cooker, fridge, and washing machine. When I pressed for more information to lodge a complaint, he dodged my questions, stating he’d ring me back but was reluctant to provide any number or reference. I suspect he won’t be returning, as he clearly didn’t fancy a proper grilling. It's a fair warning for everyone to stay vigilant. I've taken the precaution of blocking that number.

What really unnerved me was the fact that he possessed not only the initials but also the full surname along with the accurate postcode.

Received a call purporting to be from some insurance company, possibly UK General Insurance, concerning coverage for household appliances. The trouble is, I don't possess any such policy! It’s painfully obvious this is a scam.

I've been receiving numerous calls from this number, claiming to be from Domestic & General regarding my appliances, but they're not giving me the right details. Quite frankly, it feels like a dodgy scam to me.
