While waiting, I quickly searched the number online and found out it was a scam, so I hung up straight away. That same evening, over £200 was taken from my credit card at around the time they called. I reckon this might be connected to a Tax Scam message I got the day before. You know, the ones where they pretend to be from HMRC and say you’ve got a refund waiting, quoting an exact sum, and they include a link to click on.
