Honestly, these scammers ought to be charged with theft and extortion.

My computer suddenly showed a warning claiming my private info was at risk because of some virus. The alert said it was from something called Microsoft Support and told me I had to ring them straight away, like within five minutes, or my computer would get locked. I ignored it and didn't bother calling. Nothing happened to the computer. Pretty obvious that these fraudsters were just trying to get into my system to nick my sensitive info.

These lot are total scammers. They phoned my folks pretending they could "sort out the problem" on their computer, but really just wanted to get hold of their bank card and email info. Just ignore the popup and open another tab, then you won’t get bugged by it again. Make sure you’ve always got antivirus running, that’ll stop them from doing anything. I rang their number once to check who they were, and they just cut me off. When I called again to ask why, they started getting rude real quick. Best thing? Just hang up and run your antivirus scan.

So, this just happened to me. I rang them up to find out where they were calling from, turns out they're based in India. I didn't let them get any access and just hung up straight away. Nothing else happened after that. Total SCAM!
