They claimed my internet service was set to be terminated the following day due to a supposed hacking incident. The thing is, my actual provider isn’t BT, so I was immediately sceptical about their authenticity. They proceeded to assert that they were the "main server" for a multitude of other companies, including Sky, Virgin, and several others. Then, they provided me with a number to call from my mobile to confirm their affiliation with BT. Well, I made it clear that this number could belong to anyone, and that it was entirely plausible I could be speaking to someone with nefarious intent just pretending to be from BT.
