I got an email from a “loan company” saying I’d been approved for £3000, then they sent me a direct debit form for some “set up fee”. The phone number they gave was 0203-290-2286. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

These lot were acting like they worked for British Gas business and trying to get into our account. They went on about sending me a letter and needing to read some statement to the owner, asked for my name too. The bloke couldn’t even say my name from the account he claimed to have. When I told him I didn’t buy that he was really from British Gas, he just said alright and cut me off.

Some bloke from India called me claiming his name was Jeffrey Harvey, saying I'm under investigation for tax evasion from 2012 to 2017 and I supposedly owe £4397. He had me on the line for nearly 40 minutes going through all sorts of procedures and consequences but never showed any proof I did anything wrong. Then he started threatening me. Honestly, people like this are a total joke, just laugh it off. Don’t give them a penny, they’re all scammers.

Got a call just now (10:50 on Thu 16 Nov 2017) from someone speaking with a Southeast Asian accent. They said they were from HM Tribunal & Court about Tax Evasion & Avoidance (they said "awoidance" weirdly). The message was that me or my solicitor must ring back right away on 0203 287 7659 & not ignore the call. I've reported it to Action Fraud already. Just got back from holiday tonight and found this message on my answerphone. The bloke’s voice was kinda like one of those 'Dalek' robots from old Doctor Who episodes. He was going on about some crime linked to a sports firm. I'm a pensioner too, so maybe they’re aiming at older folks like me. I get loads of scam emails pretending to be from HMRC as well. I do tell the tax office about them 'cause they like hearing about these scams. Now I just Google all the numbers I get and rely on you lovely people to fill me in.

Just like others have said here, I got a voicemail with a really threatening vibe, saying it was the Government warning me about some "claim under my name for tax evasion and avoidance" and telling me not to ignore the call. Totally a scam if you ask me - tax avoidance isn’t illegal, only evasion is. Plus, errr, when did HMRC start leaving aggressive phone messages instead of sending letters? Makes no sense at all.

I just returned from overseas to discover this rather alarming message. Being in our senior years, we were quite taken aback. Just a quarter of an hour ago, we got a call from this number. When we tried to return the call, it just disconnected abruptly. It’s likely one of those dodgy premium-rate lines, and I’d highly recommend steering clear of calling back. I suspect it’s a blatant scam. I think it’s best to alert the relevant authorities and get in touch with your service provider to have this number blocked. It really does create a lot of unnecessary hassle and anxiety.

The tone was quite menacing, to say the least. This entire operation appears to be nothing more than a ploy to scare individuals into handing over their funds. It's blatantly a scam; HMRC would never reach out in such a manner, and the choice of 'lawyer' rather than 'solicitor' is a dead giveaway. It’s truly disturbing, especially for the elderly or those unfamiliar with such tactics. The authorities ought to take serious action against these crooks.

I got a call during my lunch break claiming to be from HMRC, insisting I ring the number back straight away, warning me not to brush it off as I was supposedly involved in tax evasion. The caller's tone was quite impolite and intimidating, which really heightened the stress of the situation. After looking up the number online, I was greatly relieved to discover from others that this was indeed a scam-a truly malicious ruse. It's even more disheartening to think they might be preying on vulnerable pensioners and the elderly, likely exploiting consumer lists to do so.

I received a rather unpleasant message on my parents' landline the other day. It was from a bloke who spoke with a harsh American accent, bordering on the rude, but there was an artificial ring to it, almost like a poorly made recording. He insisted that I should obtain legal representation and contact him without delay. Naturally, I called back from a withheld number, but the line only rang twice before disconnecting every single time. Yesterday, my elderly mother received a rather alarming call from this number, claiming she owed a substantial amount in taxes and insisting she needed to make a trip to get the cash right away; otherwise, the police would be on their way. She was understandably rattled by this, and unfortunately, not recognising it as a blatant scam, she ended up calling the wretched individual back and engaging in a conversation. In telling him that her son handles her financial matters, he promptly hung up. It’s incredibly frustrating that these con artists are able to operate so freely. Last night, an absolute rotter phoned my elderly mother, who’s 87, spinning a tale about her supposedly winning £5,000. They had the audacity to throw around some crime numbers, all while quizzing her on her bank balance. It completely unnerved her, and she tossed and turned all night filled with anxiety. I attempted to get in touch today, but, naturally, there was no response.

Received a call regarding tax fraud in a harsh American accent aimed at my elderly folks-sounded quite aggressive and menacing. It’s high time these sorts of calls are thoroughly looked into, and those who make them face serious consequences in court.

I received a call purporting to be from HMRC, but it has raised a few eyebrows. Feels a tad dodgy, if you ask me.
