12 yearsMy elderly mum got a call from some company claiming she was owed £2500 from a mis-sold PPI refund. We’ve looked into this before and it’s not true. She said she needed to check with me first as I manage her money. The caller insisted they just needed a quick word with their supervisor to release the money. Mum kept saying I deal with her accounts, and they said they’d ring me if she gave them my number. After about ten minutes, she got another call saying they’d already spoken to me and everything was fine to move forward. What they didn’t know was that I’d already told mum this was rubbish and I never got any call. Mum told them they hadn’t actually talked to me, and then they just hung up on her.
