This morning, I received a rather dubious phone call purporting to be from BT INTERNET. The caller insisted my computer was riddled with viruses and was busy downloading all manner of nasties. I informed them that I don't own a computer, only a smart TV, and asked if I could ring them back. At that point, the line went silent on me! It’s frustrating how frequently these calls occur. Surely, the phone companies have the means to block such nuisances by now? I certainly hope they do, but it seems they’re not overly concerned; after all, it's not affecting their bottom line, is it? I happened to miss a call from this number, so I attempted to return the call, only to be met with a recorded message stating that this number isn’t valid. Quite perplexing, I must say!

Allegedly calling from TalkTalk. All they gave me was my account number, which they might have obtained from the breached TalkTalk database. When I asked the caller for additional proof of identity, they flatly refused, so I decided to end the call. Definitely a scam!

It's astonishing, really, that in this day and age, we're still bombarded with scam calls despite the incredible advances in technology. One would think that the telecom giants, with their hefty profits, would prioritize developing robust systems to put an end to this nuisance once and for all! It seems rather ludicrous, doesn't it?

What you’ve got here is a caller with an Asian accent purporting to be from BT or some such. They're instructing you to hit the Windows key and R, supposedly to access the event viewer and highlight issues with your PC. This is a total con, so don’t buy into it! Feel free to have a laugh and lead them on a bit, but whatever you do, steer clear of their trickery!
