So, yesterday I got a call about some PPI claim I supposedly made, which I never did. They wanted me to pay £200 in Amazon vouchers to get a cheque, and said someone would ring back today with the documents and the cheque. After chatting with my son and daughter-in-law, I rang up today to cancel the whole thing. Now I’m just waiting to see if they turn up anyway!

Hello, I received a call from this number claiming I’d won a PPI payout. They said a representative would visit me today with the paperwork and a cheque, but I need to have £200 in Amazon vouchers ready to give the rep as proof once the cheque has cleared. They emphasised that I should only give the rep my ID and the vouchers, nothing else.
Honestly, it sounds way too dodgy to be real - no legitimate company asks for payment through vouchers, and £200 seems way off. Usually they want a huge chunk, like 30-40% of the payout! Just be careful if you get a call from this number.
They even rang back to confirm someone’s coming over later, so I’ll see how this pans out. Honestly, I’m fed up with these sorts of scams!
