I asked them a question and they just went off on me, telling me to d## in a really rude way.

I got a phone call from a guy claiming to be David Parker from BT at Newgate Street, but he spoke with a really strong Indian accent. He said he needed me to get on my computer so he could check some IP addresses and fix internet issues. Since my Virgin internet was running perfectly fine, I felt something was off. I asked him for a callback number, which he gave me, but when I tried, it turned out the number wasn’t real.

Got a call earlier from a guy with a foreign accent claiming he was from BT. He said someone was trying to hack into my computer to steal passwords and all that. I told him I wasn’t near my laptop and that I’d just get my usual IT bloke to check it out. He insisted only he could fix it immediately or else my internet would get cut off. He gave me a number, 02032892265, as the “help” line. I had a quick look on here afterwards and thankfully found out it was a scam. Make sure you lot warn others and be careful out there! Take care everyone. Xxx

These scammers are seriously dodgy. They try to trick you into thinking your PC has a problem so you end up letting them get in remotely. After that, they start hassling you for cash, and if you don’t pay up, they go through your files for passwords and accounts, then they might even wipe everything. I caught on straight away because I saw a similar scam on Watchdog on the BBC. When I told the guy I’d ring BT myself to check if he was legit, he lost it and started swearing at me, calling me all sorts before hanging up. Proper nasty behaviour.

Some bloke with a foreign accent claimed he was calling from BT and threatened to cut off my internet for 48 hours. Told me to fire up my computer, which I wasn’t too happy about. Eventually he gave me this number: 0203 289 2265. So I decided to look it up here. Cheers for the site!

I got a call out of the blue from someone claiming to be with the UK government, saying they stopped hackers from breaching my PC today. Then they told me I needed to switch it on right away to check if anything dodgy had happened. Funny thing is, the same number rang me just last week. Same bloke, maybe Indian or Asian, told me I should renew my Norton internet security because it was about to expire or something. Definitely sounds fishy to me.

I had a very similar call recently from someone named Mr Wilson who said he was with BT and told me there was an issue with my internet. The line was really bad so I asked if he could ring me back, and he gave me a direct number: 02032892265. But when I called that number, he just ended the call straight away. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from this number today, some woman called Lisa Watson said she worked for BT, mentioned a staff code 07BT5659. She told me my internet was messed up and asked me to type something into my computer. Honestly, that sounded fishy right away. She also gave me a phone number 020-32892265 to prove she was from BT, but I had no clue if that was legit. So I just ignored it. She said she’d ring back in 10 minutes, but next time I’m just gonna hang up straight away.

Got a call like the one mentioned before. I told them I'd contact BT myself and then he passed me a number. Pretty clear it's a scam.

My elderly dad got a call from someone claiming to be from BT, saying there was something wrong with his internet and he had to fix it right away. Thankfully, he rang me straight away. When I phoned back the number they gave, it was clear it was a scam - they refused to tell me the number I was calling and just ended the call. Not sure what they were after but definitely worth reporting.

An exceedingly tenacious chap, I must say! Nonetheless, we didn't take the bait. He was urging us to hit the Windows key along with 'I'.
