Phone number ☎️ 02032875716 👆 is reported as a persistent scam impersonating HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), typically involving automated calls with an American-accented female voice claiming urgent tax issues and threatening legal consequences or arrest if the recipient does not call back promptly or instruct a solicitor to do so. Callers often use fake names and exhibit rude or abusive behaviour when challenged. These scammers may have a South Asian accent when answering returned calls and employ high-pressure tactics to elicit personal or financial information, sometimes resulting in significant financial loss. Users are advised to block the number, avoid returning calls, and report incidents to Action Fraud or relevant authorities to help mitigate the scam’s impact.

Got a call from this number, some guy with an Asian accent calling himself Michael Carter. He was really good at sounding convincing, even got me looking up HMRC contact numbers online, saying he’d been trying to reach me since August. He kept going on about needing a solicitor and that there was a court case against me. I told him I’d need something in writing before seeing a solicitor, and mentioned I’ve had other letters from HMRC, so why wouldn't I have got one about this? Then he got quite nasty and just ended the call. Tried ringing him back but it just kept disconnecting.

I'm unsure if they'll still continue with this activity. The individual I was interacting with quickly understood the situation when he requested £58,367.87 from me. I provided him with a fake name, which he confirmed to be correct. He also acknowledged my incorrect address as accurate. Furthermore, I provided him with a 16-digit number, "1234567812346878". He stated that the security number was incorrect. I then informed him that this was indeed HMRC and we had successfully traced his location, with his surroundings fully surrounded by our team. In response, he simply told me to go away, but I couldn't help but burst into laughter.

I doubt they will continue their activities any longer. The individual I interacted with seemed to understand the gravity of the situation when he requested £58,367.87 from me.
When he asked for my name, I provided him with false information, which he surprisingly confirmed as correct. He also confirmed my inaccurate address as accurate. Lastly, I supplied him with a 16-digit number, 1234567812346878. He claimed that the security number was incorrect. In response, I informed him that this was actually HMRC and we had successfully traced his location and surrounded his building. His vulgar response was to tell me to "f*** off", to which I merely laughed in response.

I also received a call recently. I decided to return the call and was informed that I owed £3,892. I mentioned that I would discuss the matter with my employer in the morning, but I was told there was no time and that I would be arrested if I didn't pay immediately. Feeling suspicious, I ended the call and searched for the number online. Consequently, I blocked the number to avoid any further contact. This experience is quite upsetting and disappointing.

Earlier this morning (12th July 2018), I received a phone call from a certain number. The person on the other end informed me that I had unpaid taxes amounting to £4208.00, along with associated penalties. Prior to this call, I had not received any correspondence from HMRC regarding such tax arrears. The individual went on to threaten that the police would arrest me and that my accounts, car, and home would be seized. It was at this point that I realized they were not a genuine HMRC representative, as government officials would never attempt to intimidate people in such a manner. In response, I asked the caller to reveal their identity, but instead, they used offensive language before abruptly ending the call.

Scam alert! Received a really scary voicemail claiming to be Claire Williams from HMRC. It warned me not to ignore the message and said if I don’t hire a lawyer I’ll be in big legal trouble with the courts!!

Got a call from 02032875716, and it’s definitely a scam. When I called them out on it, they just ended the call straight away.

Definitely a scam try. They dodged my call and cut me off as soon as I called them out. I’m not gonna answer if they ring me back now :-)

Just like everyone else is saying, I received a phone call from a recorded American female voice claiming to be from HMRC. The voice asked me to contact them with a solicitor because they wanted to discuss a very serious matter. Of course, I didn't return the call as it was clearly a scam, especially since there was no written correspondence beforehand.

I got tricked by this guy Martin Victor cause he seemed to be aware of my exact HMRC debt. He told me to call a number supposedly from the HMRC site and phoned me from that same number. Only when I chatted with my accountant did I find out HMRC actually owed me cash. TOTAL SCAM!

Received a call from the aforementioned number on 4th December. The voice message, recorded by an American, insisted that I get in touch with them immediately or face possible legal consequences.

Got a call threatening to send the police round within two hours if £4000 wasn’t paid right away. They knew some personal info too, which is pretty worrying. These calls should honestly be banned. Totally ruined someone’s day. Don’t bother calling them back.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC. It was an automated voice, sounded American, said it was Claire Williams and said I had to call 020 3287 5716 back or there would be serious trouble. Definitely seems dodgy to me.

At first, a woman named Clare Williams said she was from HMRC. I called back and got an Indian lady who said her name was Rebecca Brown. The line kept cutting out. I phoned again and foolishly gave my name. She claimed the tax office had done an audit and I owed £4899 that had to be paid right away or I’d face court. I nearly fell for it but thankfully didn’t have the money ready. I said I’d call back after speaking to my son. He told me straight away it was a scam, and he was right. I feel a bit silly for nearly falling for it.

TOTALLY A SCAM! They’re pretending to be from HMRC, but HMRC doesn’t make calls like this and knows about these tricks. My advice? Just block and ignore the number!

Similar experience here. Seemed genuine at first, but then he went on to ask if I’d been found guilty of grand theft. That’s not even a thing over here in the UK, so I realised it was dodgy and ended the call straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I owed income tax and needed a solicitor. Told them I’d call back after looking up their number. They got all aggressive and said, “You think I’m lying?” I said yeah, if you were legit you wouldn’t mind me verifying. Asked for a reference number, and they just hung up. Bit suspicious they rang so early, like 7:30 in the morning.

He said his name was Barker with an Indian accent. Claimed I owed tax from 2015/16/17 and asked for my solicitor’s details. I told him I wouldn’t give out info over the phone and wanted a proper letter from HMRC before doing anything. He got a bit rude, saying he hadn’t asked for money. I repeated I wouldn’t handle this on the phone, then he asked if I was deaf. I told him no one from HMRC would talk like that and hung up.

Complete rip-off, got a robotic American voice saying it was from HMRC and that I had to ring back straight away or I’d ‘face serious legal action’. Think I’ll give it a miss 😉 Worry this could trick people who are more vulnerable though.

Got a voicemail from someone calling herself Claire Williams claiming to be from HM Revenue & Customs, warnin me not to ignore it. I phoned back and an Indian-accented bloke answered, said it was HMRC. I asked for a case reference but told him I hadn’t received anything and wanted to know what’s going on. He said I owed tax, which can’t be right cos I’m employed and have no other income. Tried to get his name, but it was some weird name I couldn’t say. He said he’d look into it and call me again.

Got a call this morning from some Indian bloke pretending to be from HMRC, demanding I pay £4490. Honestly, I couldn’t make out a single thing he was saying. I told him to ring back on Monday and he instantly threatened me, saying the police would be ringing next and that I’d get arrested if I didn’t take him seriously. Watch out! Don’t give these people any of your info!!!

Once more, they say they’re from HMRC. They got really aggressive when I refused to share any info. I asked him to prove what info he already had on me. He told me to get a solicitor involved. I said I wasn’t worried since he didn’t seem to know anything. Then he said the police would be coming to arrest me and I should speak to them.
