My mother-in-law got a call from someone claiming to be from a computer firm. They told her to switch off her PC straight away, even though her computer isn’t even hooked up to the internet! They threatened to cut her off if she didn’t do what they said!

This number rang me and it was a woman with an English name but obviously an Asian accent. I couldn’t really get what she was saying, so I asked her to speak up. Next thing I know, she just ended the call. Total scam, no doubt about it. Proper laugh though!

Some bloke rang me claiming to be from the finance team and told me Lloyds Bank had £2,000 waiting for me. He mentioned a solicitor called Freddie Miller was supposed to drop by within a few hours to hand over a cheque. No one ever showed up and I never called him back like he asked - clearly a scam trying to trick me.

I got a call from what they said was the claims office and a regulator telling me I had won £3000, but I needed to cover £150 in tax first. They said someone would pop round to drop off the cheque within a few hours. Before that, they wanted me to buy an iTunes voucher for £150 and then ring them back to confirm I had it. They said they didn’t want to bother Jennifer Smith if I couldn’t sort the voucher out.

Got a call from a woman speaking with an Asian accent. She wanted to speak to me by my name, but honestly, the noise in the background was so distracting, I couldn’t catch which company she was from. Felt dodgy to me, probably some kind of scam.

Got a call from a guy with a strong Asian accent saying he was with some Institute of Charters or something. He told me I’m supposed to get back like £3000 'cause of dodgy bank fees. His English was so broken I just kept listening out of curiosity to see what nonsense he’d say next. Eventually, I just ended the call.

I got a call from someone claiming they were with the Ministry of Justice saying I was owed £3000 from my bank. I told them my son was nearby and he works for the Herts police. They seemed fine with that and said a cheque would be dropped off at 5pm by a Govt Solicitor. I’m curious if they actually show up or not. Sounds like a proper dodgy scam to me!

On the 15th Feb 2016, this number kept calling my 86 year old Aunt about buying a £150 iTunes voucher. Rang her nearly 7 times in one day! Then they tried again the next day, 16th Feb 2019, claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice. I warned her not to buy anything and later phoned them myself. Spoke to someone called Derek Miller who had a strong foreign accent. Told him to stop bothering us or I'd have to report them to the police!

They just needed me to show some ID like a passport or driving licence so they’d know it was me collecting the cash. Just got a call from 02032872989. The person was asking for someone, but I couldn’t catch the name clearly. When I asked who they wanted, the caller switched to a really poor accent and started asking for me. Then she tried to spell my last name, but it was all over the place. I cut her off and said, "Honestly, your English is awful," and then she just hung up on me. Bit strange, really.

When I said I’d verify it with the police, he got really rude and started warning me I’d be in trouble. Proper dodgy scam, definitely not to be trusted.

Some bloke rang up saying he was calling from the Ministry of Justice and wanted to chat to my husband, even asked for him by his name. I played along and asked for a number to call him back, just to confirm it was legit (knowing full well it was dodgy). He wouldn’t give me any number and then cut the call when I kept saying I wouldn’t talk until I got a number to confirm who he was. Total scam, no doubt about it.

I got a call from a number that wouldn’t tell me who they were, and the line was awful, kept cutting off all the time. The noise in the background sounded like a busy call centre. They kept asking for someone, but they had the wrong name. I asked them a few times who they were but they never said, then just hung up on me.
