Some bloke was asking for my card info, but I really didn't feel it was safe to share with him.

The name he provided was Steve Walker, but everything else aligned with what others have mentioned.

I had the very same experience today. This time, the ID was different, AB013, belonging to one Andrew Parker. He provided me with a number to ring, but naturally, I didn’t take that bait. In fact, I've received three calls from these lot already. Is there a way to block them entirely?

I've had numerous calls claiming there’s an issue with my broadband security. I ended the conversation abruptly, but they keep ringing me back. Such a nuisance!

Received a rather dubious call today from someone claiming to be a BT technician, insisting that my computer had picked up some nasty malware. I went ahead and ran my own scan, and surprise, surprise-no sign of any dodgy software whatsoever. Clearly, this was just a scam call designed to trick me!

this guy said he was with bt even tho i dont even have bt. he told me hes calling to save me from scams or somethin. said some dodgy software was slowing my internet down. he mentioned some code like 8&dca60 as if it proved he was legit. then dropped a phone number and told me to use the code wo0346 when i call back. total scam.

I received a call from 02032872228 where a gentleman introduced himself as Mr Williams, claiming there was an issue with my broadband connection. I found the whole thing rather dubious, so I requested a callback number. He provided me with 02032864454 and mentioned his employee ID as SW63021. Considering my broadband is functioning perfectly fine, I chose not to return the call.

I got a call from a guy named Andrew Parker claiming he worked for BT broadband. It’s a total scam, but a pretty clever one. When I called the number back, someone actually answered and even confirmed they worked for BT, giving the caller’s name and an employee ID. I don’t get why BT hasn’t shut it down yet. The only way to make them stop ringing is to ask for their office address and say you’ll come round to see them!

Some bloke rang me up saying my PC had a virus, then I just told him I’m a computer engineer (which I’m definitely not) and he just ended the call straight away.

Got a couple of calls earlier today but just let them ring out and checked the voicemail, nothing there. Really appreciate everyone who took the time to flag this number here, it’s good to see it’s a scam before even answering. Thanks to the community!

I just ended the call right away as soon as the voicemail started.

Some bloke got in touch saying his name was Andrew Parker, but he had a really thick Indian accent. I was quite suspicious, so I didn’t buy it. He then told me to call this BT helpline number, 0203 something. The call actually came from 0800 8000158. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT's tech support, but it felt off. Sounds like a classic scam to me. Just be careful and don't give out any personal info!

I’ve recently had a rather similar ordeal, and I fear I may have been duped. The individual on the other end was incredibly persuasive. We chatted for a bit, and just as things were escalating, they abruptly cut the line. Regrettably, I think I revealed more non-sensitive details than I should have. When I dialled the number back, it seemed like I was chatting with the same chap, which was quite alarming. I looked up the BT helpline number on the internet, and it appeared to be legitimate as well. It’s clearly a rather well-coordinated scheme!

I had a rather peculiar phone call from someone identifying himself as Gills William. He claimed there was an issue with my BT internet that could affect our service and potentially their main server. Said he was affiliated with BT and pushed me to hop online so he could guide me through some steps. I told him I was preoccupied, asked for his number to get back to him later, but of course, I haven’t! He almost had me convinced, which just goes to show how easy it is for those who might be less discerning to fall for such tricks!

I had an experience quite akin to what Anon from London mentioned. The voice on the line was female, but the rest of the details - a security matter, a number linked to my employer, you name it - were just as alarming. The number displayed as international, yet it hints at being an 020 code.
She tried to explain it away, claiming it was a CMD command for Windows, which sounds rather dodgy to me! Best to disregard such calls entirely!

This chap called me and provided this number, urging me to ring back after confirming he was affiliated with BT support. He insisted I open a command prompt on my computer and input a specific code. I mentioned that I would contact BT to verify his identity, and he claimed his name was "Andrew Parker" with some ID number - AP005. He attempted to offer me a number to validate his ID, but I decided I’d search for it myself and reach out to confirm. I told him I’d get back to him, but in the end, I didn't. He made it clear that if I doubted him, I'd have to sort out the issue on my own. He claimed BT was the top provider for online security and insisted that mine needed urgent attention. The thing is, we’re not even with BT, nor do we have any of their security software in place!

Called this number and it was dead. Woman said her name was Jennifer Wilson but I reckon she's a scammer.

Can someone verify if this is indeed a legitimate BT service call regarding the resolution of security concerns with my broadband router?
